BWgovernment CALL FOR BUSINESS PROPOSALS – YOUTH START UPS AND RECAPITALISATION PROJECTS

BACKGROUND

The Ministry of Youth, Sport and Culture is implementing the Job Creation Initiative (JCI) in an effort to create sustainable youth enterprises; employment opportunities; and promote active youth participation in the socio-economic development of the country. The initiative is implemented through a loan facility to youth businesses that are starting up or need capital injection to finance their operations.

Under the JCI, citizen youth companies are invited to submit business proposals for possible funding.

• For Start Ups: - proposals should be untested business ideas, new inventions or refinements to existing and unexploited business ideas. • For Recapitalization: - these are existing businesses that have defined growth strategy that require additional funds.

FUNDING SCOPE

Selected projects will be financed outside the normal Youth Development Fund (YDF) application process and emphasis will be on growth oriented enterprises with a demonstrable potential to create sustainable employment opportunities for young people.

Option 1

The funding for start-ups is only open to the following business ventures:-a) Creative Industries (Film Making, Multi-media, ICT, Arts and Craft e.t.c). b) Welding and Fabrication (window and door frames, troughs, boats, wire & fencing materials) c) Manufacturing industries d) Pottery Production e) Fish industry f) Horticulture production g) Hospitality and Tourism Services

Option 2

Recapitalisation will cover projects in the following categories:

a) Creative Industries (Film Making, Multi-media, ICT, Arts and Craft e.t.c). b) Welding and Fabrication (window and door frames, troughs, boats, wire & fencing materials) c) Manufacturing industries d) Fashion and Design e) Textile and Apparels f) Confectionery and Bakery g) Catering, Cleaning and security services h) Construction Hospitality and Tourism services

SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Consideration will be given to citizen youth companies with the following:-

a) Start Ups:

• Business plan clearly addressing the following: i. Business idea or concept should be clearly defined ii. The project inputs should be clearly outlined iii. Clearly defined business strategy iv. Manpower requirements clearly outlined • Certificate of incorporation • Copies of shareholders certificates • Operating space (lease or letter of intent to lease)

b) Recapitalization:

• Financial statements for the past two years • Compliance with tax • ITC clearance • Expansion plan i. Outline capital requirements and justification ii. Projected cash flow statements iii. Demonstrate market potential through contracts and letters of intents iv. Demonstrate potential to create additional jobs • Company profile indicating Directorship i. References from organisations that have previously engaged your company to provide services • Declaration by Directors of the Companies • Proof of clearance of previously attained loan facilities

1. Proposals should be submitted directly to the MYSC Headquarters in three (3) hard copies marked “Call for Business Proposals” and addressed and or hand delivered to:
