Botswana shone at the Orate Africa Uhuru Pulse Competitions, hosted by Samuel Centenary Academy in Harare, Zimbabwe, from 14 to 20 December 2025, bringing learners from across SADC and beyond to test debate, moot court, public speaking, quiz and spelling skills.
The championships attracted strong governmental and diplomatic support, including Botswanaโs Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Ms Molosiwa, represented by Mr Wame Itshepeng and Superintendent Kenosi, Namibiaโs Acting Ambassador Ms Zemha Gawachas, and Zimbabweโs Assistant Minister of Primary and Secondary Education.
Botswana was represented by Ledumang, Makgadikgadi and Ntebogang schools. Ledumang earned second runner-up in Moot Court, Best Appellant Memorials, Best Oralist for Tumo Ramanankane and fourth runner-up oralist Amantle Ngubula, under mentor Marang Mathothora.
Makgadikgadi placed fifth, while Ntebogang reached debate quarterfinals, with standout speakers Majo Lerang, Kgotso Motladiile and Katlego Mathothora. Nairobi will host the 2026 championships.
