ABOUT 417 LEARNERS MISS EXAMINATIONS IN GHANZI

About 417 Form 3 learners at Itekeng Junior Secondary School in Ghanzi are reported to have missed some examinations of the just ended Junior Certificate Examinations (JCE).

Ghanzi District Council chairperson, Mr Tlhabiso Kebadile said during the examination period, the school faced several challenges such as absenteeism, fights and bullying as some of the factors contributing to the high number of learners missing examinations.

“Failure to sit for examinations will contribute to significant decline in performance,’’ cautioned Mr Kebadile during the full council session on Wednesday.

He therefore appealed to parents to support their children and ensure that they attended and completed their studies as expected.

12 new primary schools are under construction. Of these, six schools in Oodi, Gaborone (two), Mogoditshane, Kumakwane, and Francistown are practically complete, while the remaining six are progressing well. Government continues to address shortage of classrooms, teachers’ houses, and toilets under backlog eradication programme.
