CONSTANTLY ENGAGE YOUR HEART WITH GOD
As Evangelist Tshepo graced the altar, he touched a key point about God being the primary reason of our fellowship. Unfolding a reflective and edifying message the servant of God said;
“Many come to church because of different reasons such as the need for deliverance, healing and breakthrough but in reality God must be the sole reason why one must attend church service. You must come to church for an encounter or fellowship with God, but if God is not the sole reason then our meeting is not fellowship but just a gathering. When you say ‘I am going to church’ you only need to prepare yourself physically such as deciding on what to wear and transportation. But when you say ‘I’m going to God’ then you need a much deeper preparation, that is, not only the physical but the most integral part of your being; your spirit (your heart).”
Going deeper on this message the servant of God stressed out that True Christianity is a lifestyle of being led by the Spirit; the Holy Spirit. “You cannot be a true Christian in the absence of the leadership of the Holy Spirit, I mean, when you try to practice Christianity without the Holy Spirit, then whatever you are doing is a religion,” he added. Still under the check and conduct of the Holy Spirit, the Evangelist continued to say;
“We are not Christians if we are led by any other thing but the Holy Spirit. True Christianity is a lifestyle of being led by the Spirit but unfortunately, many live a life of imitation whereas they are in church simply because they are not led by the Spirit. For example, you pray because you heard someone testifying that they got healed after making a prayer and then you decide to imitate them believing that you too will receive from God. Take note of this: God can only be aware of what He initiated.
Furthermore, when you ask for bread it shouldn’t be because of hunger but it should be because you are led by the Spirit. The word ‘HUNGER’ represents unemployment, sickness, setback or any kind of situation you might think of. For example, the Holy Spirit led Jesus into hunger while in the wilderness. He was hungry but not desperate and when the devil asked him to tell the stones to become bread, He never fell into that temptation because he knew that He was led by the Holy Spirit. (PROOF TEXT: Matthew 4:3-4) This illustration clarifies that the leadership of the Holy Spirit ignites a sense of confidence and comfort even in a discomforting situation – this on its own also produces a sense of security.
Moreover, for you to be led by the Spirit you need to constantly engage your heart with God and prayer is one of the things that you can do to constantly engage your heart. It is impossible to hear God while living a hasty life hence the need for your heart to be fully engaged with God. When the very heart is fully engaged you will be able to see beyond what you are looking at, hear beyond what you are hearing and feel beyond what you are feeling.”
At the culmination of the sermon the servant of God made it clear that if you are led by God, no matter what you go through you will overcome simply because you are led by the Holy Spirit. For example, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego entered the blazing furnace not only because King Nebuchadnezzar gave an order for them to be thrown in the fire but it was God who permitted that [meaning they were led by the Spirit]. They entered the furnace but the fire did not touch them because they did not succumb to the king’s pressure and they saw the glory of God in there because the Lord was with them. (PROOF TEXT: Daniel 3:16-28). So therefore brethren, take this example as a lesson, that if you don’t succumb to the pressure outside you too will get to see the glory of God in your life.
GOD’S MERCIES ARE NEW FOR YOU!
