👩🏽‍🏫 Who is Teaching Our Children?
As part of the SEACMEQ V study, we examined the personal characteristics of Grade 6 teachers across member countries.
From educational background to teaching experience, these insights help us answer critical questions about teacher quality — a key driver of learner performance.
📊 With this data, policymakers are better equipped to:
✔️ Improve teacher recruitment and deployment
✔️ Design targeted teacher training programs
✔️ Strengthen national education systems
Let’s build education systems that empower both learners and teachers.

📖 Extra Lessons: A Growing Need or a Growing Divide?
The SEACMEQ V study explored whether extra lessons are becoming widespread among Grade 6 learners. Sixty percent of grade sixers in SEACMEQ V education systems reported that they take extra/remedial lessons.
The question remains:
➡️ Do such lessons support learning or create inequity?
➡️ How can schools bridge the gap?
Let’s create a level playing field.

🔍 Policy Spotlight:
Do Grade 6 learners in your country have access to library books and digital learning tools in school? If yes, are they being encouraged to borrow these resources and use them beyond the classroom?
The SEACMEQ V study was asking these critical questions to guide better policies and strengthen learning environments across the region. It was found that an average of 39% of Grade 6 learners in the sub-region have access to digital learning materials, and 43% are able to borrow school library books to take home for their use.
📖💡 It’s time to move from availability to effective utilization.
