April is Neurodiversity Acceptance Month 💛

At its heart, this month reminds us that children don’t all learn, think or experience the world in the same way and that’s not something to “fix,” but something to understand and celebrate.

Neurodiversity includes differences such as autism, ADHD, dyslexia and more. These are not deficits, they are different ways of processing, learning and engaging with the world.

Our role is not just to raise awareness, but to create environments where every child feels supported, included and valued.

Let’s move beyond awareness and into acceptance by listening, learning and embracing the strengths in every child.

How many sounds are in the word flat?

Take a guess before reading on…

You might have said 3 like most parents in the video.
But the correct answer is 4 sounds — /f/ /l/ /a/ /t/ ✅

This exercise led by Tr Bonolo shows us that even simple concepts can be tricky to parents let alone our children.

When parents understand how children learn to read, they can support them with more patience, confidence and clarity.

Because learning isn’t just for children, it’s for all of us.

Today we observe World Autism Awareness Day 💙

Theme: Autism and Humanity: Every Life Has Value

Today, we are reminded that every human life has equal worth.

Autism is not something to be fixed, it is a different way of seeing, feeling and experiencing the world. Autistic individuals enrich our communities with unique perspectives, strengths and ways of being.

Yet many still face misunderstanding and exclusion.

Today calls us to do better, to choose empathy, to create inclusive spaces and to ensure that every individual is seen, heard and valued.

Because humanity is not about sameness.
It is about embracing difference with dignity and respect.

Let today be more than awareness.
Let it be a commitment to inclusion, acceptance and action.
