Rigpa Pre-schoolers is located in Changangkha with experienced facilitators to provide the best pre-school experience for your little ones
Started in 2011, Rigpa Preschoolers is now four years old. Over the years our facilitators have also gained experience in handling young children having acquired knowledge in child care through various courses during the holidays. Only recently, they have been exposed to methodology suitable for teaching young children from experienced instructors, identified by the ECCD programme officers. The E
CCD programme is aimed at preparing the child for the school. It is not just baby-sitting but enabling in them the basic process of learning and creating a sense of curiosity to explore new things in the surrounding that they live in. Most important, they should learn and know how to function independently when they join the primary section, particularly in using toilet and taking care of themselves where teachers may not be able to give attention to each and every child in the class. Located in Motithang with ideal fenced-in landscaped surrounding, with ample space for children to play, the classrooms have also been designed to make learning conducive, most of all interesting, for the young minds. The walls of the classrooms have been painted with cartoon characters that they can identify with. We create an atmosphere where children can express their feelings. To help them, facilitators mix with them every morning before the start of the classes. Children develop physical, social and mathematical knowledge through play and our teachers help enhance their ability to explore, invent and test. The facilitators mingle with the children providing an opportunity for each child to express himself or herself, so that they are encouraged to develop their ability to speak. A Writing Room has been designed to enable children to recognize the alphabets and numbers and develop their cognitive skills. They are assisted in improving their writing skills though tracings, and drawing and painting classes, which also help in recognizing various colours, shapes and sizes. Drawing and painting is a spontaneous and deeply rooted activity. Drawings represent child’s mental pictures and his/her perception of the world. Similarly, a Play Room, where children can express their imagination by indulging and experimenting with building blocks and teachers help by giving small suggestions to encourage them on whatever they are doing. For, this is the time to encourage them to express themselves and experiment, even if they are wrong, and advise them about what is correct and what is not in the way that is easily understood and accepted by the young minds. Our motto s is to create a curiosity to explore and stimulate a process to learn. For children to develop physically and develop motor skills, landscaped garden with a play ground is available within the compound, outfitted with approved equipment by the Education authorities. In fact, the children are allowed to engage themselves in various activities of their choice but only under the careful supervision of the teachers to prevent hurting themselves or their friends. They are assisted by teachers how to use the facilities. Singing is a process that leads to learning. Therefore, the mornings begin with the national anthem and nursery rhymes. And before the classes begin, mind-training session is held every morning. During tea time and lunch break, each child is ensured that they eat well following the right eating habit and etiquette involved. Similarly, each child is accompanied to the toilet and instructed about the whole process about how to use it and assisted. For young children, who need to rest during the day, a special room has been designated as Napping Room, with clean bed and blankets with heating facility in winter. Of course, one teacher is always on duty when the children are resting/sleeping. Assessment
A continuous assessment of the child’s progress is carried out on a weekly basis to monitor the child’s mental development, along with a mid-term and annual assessment. The parents shall be informed of the child’s progress regularly and the management/facilitators hold regular consultations/meetings with parents to discuss the child’s improvement or areas where the child is found lacking. Parents should send packed snacks and lunch for the children, as each child has his/her own preference. For the snack time at 10.30 am, the Centre shall provide hot tea (milk will be provided instead of tea twice a week). The teachers ensure that the children eat their fill.
