From the original 11 children in playgroup (2012) we saw our third batch of Primary school graduates in 2020. By 2013, the school upgraded into Primary school.

Sersang School had its start in the year 2012 with Playgroup holding 11 children. In 2017 we will have a little over 100 students with classes ranging from playgroup till class 6. The school is located in Motithang. The present school building was previously Motithang hotel.

Classroom and outdoor activities on sinking and floating in Class 1 to provide students with fun and practical learning experiences. In the classroom, children tested different objects in water and observed whether they sank or floated. Outdoor activities allowed students to explore and collect natural objects such as leaves, stones, and sticks for further investigation. These activities encouraged curiosity, teamwork, observation, and active participation while helping students understand basic science concepts through hands-on learning. Madam Kencho Wangmo

Today is World Bee Day, and we celebrated it through hands-on learning. Our PP and Class II–III students explored the importance of bees through observation, discussion, and creative activities. Both classes observed bees and flowers outside, learned about honeycomb shapes, and visited the science lab to look at bees through the microscope.

Throughout the week, our Class II–III students also worked on a bee learning packet, exploring bees through science, math, art, and reading activities. They concluded the celebration today by watching Bee Movie and reflecting on the importance of bees in our world.

During science class, students created a special craft with the message, “I love you to the moon and back.” Since the moon connects naturally with science, this activity gave students a simple and meaningful way to combine creativity, learning, and appreciation.

We also read I Love My Mommy Because / Quiero a mi mamá porque in both Spanish and English. Through the story, students learned the names of different animal mothers and their babies and practiced some Spanish words - Madam Luz Duarte (PP Science and Technology Teacher)

Some souls are sent into this world to heal, protect, and bring light into the lives of others. Her Majesty Gyalyum Sangay Choden Wangchuck embodies all of that and more.

Her Majesty has been a light for so many people navigating their darkest days offering hope where there was fear, comfort where there was pain, and strength where there was silence. The love and care Her Majesty continues to show, especially towards the most vulnerable, is something words can never fully capture.

So many lives have been touched, protected, and transformed simply because Her Majesty chose to lead with kindness and humanity. Beneath the grace is a heart that has carried the pain of others so gently, while continuously inspiring a nation through compassion, courage, and selfless service.

Today, we celebrate not only the birthday of our beloved Gyalyum, but also the beautiful soul that continues to uplift and heal countless lives every single day.

Happy Birthday to Her Majesty Gyalyum Sangay Choden Wangchuck. May Her Majesty always be blessed with good health, peace, happiness, and endless love.

Understanding the difference between being rude, being mean, and bullying. Our children learnt that rude behavior can happen by accident, mean behavior is on purpose but may happen once, and bullying is repeated and intended to hurt others. Children also practiced how to respond in a calm and respectful way using the Stop, Talk, Walk model, learning to use kind but firm words like, “Stop, I don’t like that,” and knowing when to seek help from a trusted adult. The lesson helped them build awareness, kindness, and confidence in handling difficult situations. The session was presented by Madam Meena, our School Health Coordinator and PP teacher. The lesson is part of a nationwide campaign raise awareness and stop bullying in schools in Bhutan.

‘With thankful hearts, children offered khadhars, enjoyed watching their teachers dance, and also led moments of dance themselves. From Playgroup to Primary, everyone came together to cherish this special day.’
