Sonam sells potatoes. If she sells Nu 50 per kg, she expects to sell 20 kg in a day. For every increase in Nu.1 in the price, the sale will decrease by 1kg.
a) write an equation to represent the price of one kg of potatoes, if she sells at an increassed price of Nu x.
Ans
New price of 1 kg potatoes = 50 + x

b) write an equation to represent the number of kg of potatoes, if she sells at an increased price of Nu x.
Ans
The number of kg of potatoes sold = 20 - x

c) write a function to represent the total sales, if she sells at an increased price of Nu x.
Ans
Total sales= New price of potatoes x No. of kg of potatoes sold.
Total sales= (50 + x)(20 - x)

d) sketch the graph to show the total sales of potatoes, if she sells at an increased price of Nu x.
Ans
Hints : Use (c) equation and sketch the graph.

e) use the graph to estimate the price that will result in the greatest daily sales and total sales in this price.
Ans
Hint: The vertex of a parabola given by
y=ax^2 + bx +c is at
x=−b/(2a)
