Every year, September 28 is celebrated as World Rabies Day. This year, the World Rabies Day is observed under the powerful theme, “Act Now: You, Me, Community,” which calls on every individual and community to take responsibility and collaborate in the fight against rabies.

Rabies remains a significant global health concern, present in more than 150 countries across every continent except Antarctica. It causes approximately 59,000 deaths each year, with the majority occurring in Asia and Africa.

The situation in Bhutan highlights the ongoing need for vigilance. Between 2006 and 2016, 17 human rabies deaths were reported. More recently, the country witnessed the tragic death of a three-year-old child from rabies in 2020, and one further death was reported in 2023. While this progress shows that control efforts are making a difference, the fight is not over. Already in 2024, 17 animal rabies cases have been reported, revealing the persistent threat.

On this significant day, Sherubtse Science Forum, in collaboration with Sherubtse Media Society is releasing this informative video to raise public awareness about the critical medical importance of rabies and its serious implications. Together, through knowledge and action, we can prevent further tragedies.

The award ceremony of the Science Forum is a prestigious event that celebrates the achievements and contributions of students. The event was held in the old lecture theatre with a vibrant atmosphere that reflected the enthusiasm and dedication of the forum members. The award category included, certificates for class representatives, program representatives, active volunteers and the semester toppers. The award ceremony was not just a formality; but a testament to the significant contributions of the students and a milestone in their professional and personal growth. In this occasion, we also bid goodbye to final year members of the forum who are moving on to new adventures. While farewells are always bittersweet, they are a necessary part of our journey. As we reflect on the shared experiences and the bonds we've forged, we take pride in the legacy they've created and the impact they've made.

Sherubtse science forum has yet again started the spring semester by initiating cleaning of library. Cleaning the library offers help in preserving books and materials, creating a welcoming environment for patrons, preventing the spread of germs, improving air quality, and enhancing the overall aesthetics of the space. Additionally, organizing and decluttering shelves can make it easier for patrons to find resources and encourage them to spend more time exploring the library's collection. It is infact the greatest duty any student can do for their institutes because, cleaner the learning environment healthier is the institute. The cleaning was initiated by forum coordinator along with program representatives and class representatives.
