NATIONAL EARTHQUAKE MOCK DRILL 2026
School-Based Earthquake Preparedness and Response Exercise.

A National Earthquake Mock Drill was conducted at the school on 21 September 2026 to strengthen earthquake preparedness, awareness, and emergency response among students and staff.

The mock drill involved all staff and students from Pre-Primary to Class VI. The School Disaster Management Team coordinated the activity and guided participants through appropriate safety and evacuation procedures. Students and staff practised emergency actions, including responding calmly during an earthquake, protecting themselves, evacuating the buildings safely, and assembling at the designated safe area.

The drill provided an opportunity for the school community to practise coordinated emergency response and reinforce the importance of preparedness, discipline, and safety during an earthquake or other disasters.

Overall, the National Earthquake Mock Drill served as an important preparedness exercise to promote a culture of safety and resilience among the school community.

Health Awareness Programme on Common Illnesses and Preventive Measures - Samdrup Jongkhar Hospital.

A health awareness session was conducted to sensitise participants on common illnesses, their symptoms, modes of transmission, treatment, and preventive measures by the Doctor of Samdrup Jongkhar hospital on 17 September 2026.

The session covered common cold, flu, cough, and fever, with the doctor explaining their common signs and symptoms, how respiratory infections spread from person to person, and ways to prevent infection through good hygiene, handwashing, proper cough and sneeze etiquette, adequate rest, and avoiding close contact when unwell. Participants were also advised on appropriate steps to take when experiencing such symptoms and when to seek medical attention.

The doctor also provided an overview of pharyngitis, including its causes, signs and symptoms, treatment, and preventive measures.

In addition, typhoid was discussed, focusing on what it is, how it spreads, its common symptoms, and preventive practices such as maintaining proper hygiene, consuming safe food and drinking water, and practising good sanitation.

Overall, the session provided useful health information and encouraged participants to adopt healthy practices to prevent common infectious diseases and seek timely medical care when necessary.

Primary Schools Sports Carnival 2026
Venue: Samdrup Jongkhar Thromde Astro Ground
Participating Schools: Samdrup Jongkhar Primary School, Dewathang Primary School and Rekhey Primary School.

The Primary Schools Sports Carnival 2026 was successfully conducted on 12 September 2026 at the Samdrup Jongkhar Thromde Astro Ground, with active participation from Samdrup Jongkhar Primary School, Dewathang Primary School and Rekhey Primary School.

The carnival provided students with an opportunity to demonstrate their sporting abilities, teamwork, discipline and sportsmanship. Various sporting activities were conducted in a friendly and competitive atmosphere, encouraging healthy competition and interaction among students from the three schools.

The event concluded successfully with students and teachers appreciating the opportunity to participate in a meaningful sporting programme. Overall, the carnival promoted physical fitness, teamwork, confidence, friendship and sportsmanship among the participating students.

Learning Fair – Classes IV–VI
A Learning Fair for Classes IV–VI was conducted on 4 September 2026 to provide students with an opportunity to showcase their knowledge, skills, creativity, and learning through various displays and activities.

Students actively participated in presenting their projects and demonstrating their understanding of different subjects. The fair encouraged experiential learning, collaboration, creativity, and confidence among the students. It was an enriching and engaging learning experience for both students and teachers.

Religious Disclosure programme was conducted on 30 August 2026 at the school. The programme provided students with an opportunity to share and learn about religious values, beliefs, and practices in a respectful and meaningful manner.

It promoted mutual understanding, tolerance, respect, and harmony among students. The programme was conducted successfully with active participation from the students.

Inter-House Declamation Competition was held on 27 August 2026 as part of the school’s co-curricular activities.

Students from different houses participated enthusiastically and delivered their speeches with confidence, clarity and effective expression.

The competition provided students with an opportunity to develop their public speaking skills, self-confidence and communication abilities.

Orientation Programme for Vice captains

An orientation programme for the Vice-Captains-Elect was conducted by the Vice-Principal on 26 August 2026.
The programme aimed to familiarise the newly elected Vice-Captains with their roles, responsibilities and expectations as student leaders.

The Vice-Principal highlighted key leadership qualities such as discipline, teamwork, effective communication, responsibility and positive role modelling.

The Vice-Captains-Elect were encouraged to work collaboratively with teachers and students and to carry out their duties with commitment, respect and integrity.
