Samtse College of Education Hosts 13th Faculty–Student Research Convention to Promote Educational Innovation and Research
Samtse College of Education successfully conducted the 13th Faculty–Student Research Convention on 8 May 2026, bringing together faculty members, researchers, M.Ed and PgDE students to share research findings aimed at improving education, teaching practices, and social well-being in Bhutan.
Centred on the theme “Teacher Education Research in Bhutan: Trends, Challenges, Practices, and Perspectives,” the convention served as a platform for academic dialogue, knowledge sharing, and critical reflection on emerging issues in education.

The Chithuen Phendhey Association, operating under the Royal Patronage of His Majesty the King, conducted a drug prevention and awareness campaign at Samtse College of Education on Wednesday, 7 May 2026, as part of its nationwide outreach programme themed, “Every Child is Precious. Drugs Must Not Steal Their Future.” Samtse marked the association’s 18th dzongkhag visit out of 20.

The Samtse College of Education celebrated Teachers’ Day with great enthusiasm and appreciation, honouring the dedication and contributions of educators through a vibrant campus-wide programme.
The event was held on 2 May 2026, a date that coincides with the Birth Anniversary of His Majesty Jigme Dorji Wangchuck (1928–1972). Revered as the “Father of Modern Bhutan”, he introduced the modern education system in the country and prioritised national development after centuries of isolation.

Samtse College of Education is proud to announce that Sonam Yoezer Dendup, a third-year B.Ed Information Technology student, has achieved the prestigious First Grand Prize in the University Category at the Grecture Global Shorts Competition. The results were officially announced on April 30, 2026.

The competition, hosted by Grecture (presented by Idegree by Woosong University) in collaboration with EBS (Korea Educational Broadcasting System), provides a global platform for students to transform complex philosophical ideas into short visual narratives. It attracted participation from both high school and university students worldwide.

Samtse College of Education (SCE) hosted a Drug and Substance Abuse Awareness Programme on 22 April 2026 to sensitise students to the risks and consequences associated with substance use. The programme was facilitated by officials from Samtse Police, led by the Officer Commanding (OC), and attended by the Dean of Student Affairs (DSA).

Samtse College of Education conducted a five-day faculty development programme on Student-Centred Teaching Strategies under the EU-funded EUFSTIAT project. The sessions were held over consecutive Saturdays, enabling faculty members to participate while continuing their regular teaching responsibilities.
The programme was organised as a cascade training, following the Training of Trainers conducted in November 2025. It aimed to extend the knowledge and skills acquired during the Training of Trainers to a wider group of faculty, thereby strengthening institutional capacity in student-centred pedagogy.

The initiative witnessed active participation from students across various academic programmes, who created short, creative, and informative TikTok videos addressing key health topics such as personal hygiene, disease prevention, mental health, and the role of science in healthcare. Through these contributions, students not only demonstrated creativity but also played an important role in disseminating health-related messages within the college community and beyond.
