Sakteng Middle Secondary School is located at the Northern side of Trashigang. Sakteng literally means a plain of bamboos(Sak-bamboo and Teng-plain).
Sakteng Lower Secondary School lies in a beautiful valley in the heart of Sakteng village. It is in the extreme north of Trashigang Dzongkhag at an altitude of about 3000m above sea level. The school was initially established in the early 1960s. However, due to the community's reluctance to embrace modern education, the school had to be closed down for over a decade.
