The “Surprise Bag” activity was carried out during home visits, demonstrating how children can practise fairness, sharing, and taking turns through a simple and engaging activity.

17/08/2026

Name of the Activity: The Biscuit (Juice)
Type: Problem-Solving Discussion
Competency: The children are able to exhibit fairness

During the home visit, Jamyang Zangpo participated in the “The Biscuit (Juice)” activity. He was encouraged to think about how to fairly share one biscuit and a glass of juice with others. Through discussion, he practised sharing, taking turns, and finding a fair solution. The activity helped him understand fairness through a simple real-life situation.

On behalf of the three ECCD Centres, Thinleygang, Lumitsawa and Mendrelgang, we would like to express our heartfelt appreciation to Madam Chador Wangmo for conducting such an impactful and meaningful reading capacity-building programme.

We are equally grateful to the Principal of Dechentsemo Central School for initiating this wonderful programme and bringing parents, children and facilitators together around an important message: we need to build a love for reading from the early years.

Reading habits and early literacy skills do not begin only when children enter school. They begin at home, from the early childhood years, through simple moments of talking, listening, looking at books, sharing stories and enjoying reading together. 📖🌱

The participation of 60 parents made the programme even more meaningful. Their willingness to learn and take part showed the important role parents play in creating a strong foundation for their children’s learning.

As ECCD facilitators, we also joined the programme not only to support the parents, but to learn alongside them. The session gave us valuable insights and practical ideas that we can continue to share with families and apply in our ECCD centres.

We were reminded that we do not need complicated methods to nurture early literacy. Just 15 minutes a day can become a powerful opportunity to connect with a child, build language, develop imagination, strengthen confidence and create a lifelong love for books. ❤️

Let us start early, start small and make reading a joyful part of every child’s childhood.

15 minutes today, a brighter future tomorrow. 🌟📚

Not only children learn through rhymes, songs and actions, adults do too! 🤭🎶💃

Parents and facilitators from three ECCD centres came together to learn, share and have fun during our session on Early Literacy and Math Skills.

Through the Hokey Pokey, we experienced how singing, listening, following instructions, moving and having fun can all be part of learning. ❤️

Learning through play is truly for everyone, at every age! 🌱✨

Growing Together, Nurturing Together 🤝

A meaningful day of reflection, sharing, and learning with parents and facilitators from Thinleygang, Lumitsawa, and Mendrelgang.

From parenting sessions and home practice to meaningful Damtsi activities, we shared our experiences, celebrated what worked, learned from our challenges, and discovered new ways to support our children. ❤️

Coming together across communities reminded us that we don’t have to parent or learn alone. When we share our experiences, one idea can inspire another, one experience can support another family, and together we can build a stronger community for our children.

A heartfelt thank you to all the parents and facilitators for your participation, openness, and wonderful sharing. And sincere gratitude to the Principal of Dechentsemo Central School for the warm hospitality and delicious lunch. 🙏

When parents grow, children flourish. When families connect, communities become stronger. Early Childhood Bhutan Mendrelgang ECCD Centre Kardro Petsher ECCD
