A team comprising 12 students and five staff members from the College of Science and Technology (CST) visited the Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST) Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology - IIST, Kerala, to implement Phase II of the Student-Faculty Exchange Program.
The first day commenced with a courtesy meeting with the Vice Chancellor and Pro Vice Chancellor of IIST, during which the CST delegation shared the objectives and activities planned for the week. The discussions primarily focused on advancing the joint student satellite project, strengthening technical collaboration, and outlining the next steps toward accelerating satellite development. The interactions reaffirmed IIST's commitment to providing continuous technical guidance and support to the CST team while reinforcing the shared vision of both institutions to advance space technology through meaningful collaboration. This partnership reflects the collective aspiration to contribute to the nation's growing space capabilities.
Following the meeting, the participants visited IIST's Small Spacecraft Systems and Payload Laboratory, where students demonstrated their ongoing space-related research and satellite development projects. The delegation gained valuable insights into the design, integration, testing, and operation of small spacecraft systems, providing an excellent learning opportunity for both students and faculty.
The day concluded with a visit to the Satellite Ground Station, where the technical team explained the ground station infrastructure, its operational workflow, and the various antenna systems used for satellite tracking, telemetry, and communication. The session provided participants with a practical understanding of ground segment operations and their critical role in satellite missions.
The first day also fostered meaningful interactions between the students and faculty members of both institutions. Participants shared their observations, exchanged technical ideas, and reflected on their learning experiences, setting a collaborative and enthusiastic tone for the remainder of the exchange program.
