National Teachersโ Day Celebration
Trashi Yangtse Primary School, 2nd May 2026
National Teachersโ Day was celebrated with joy and gratitude at Trashi Yangtse Primary School on 2nd May 2026. The day is also observed as the birth anniversary of His Majesty the Third King of Bhutan, Jigme Dorji Wangchuck, who is revered as the Father of Modern Bhutan.
The programme began with staff gathering in the school prayer hall. The day opened with the lighting of butterlamps and offering of prayers for the well-being of all teachers and in honour of His Majesty the Third King.
This was followed by a cake cutting ceremony to mark the occasion. Staff then enjoyed tea and snacks together, sharing warm conversations and appreciation for each otherโs dedication.
To add a spirit of fun and teamwork, a short friendly basketball match was played between staff members. The celebration concluded with a lunch served for all staff.
The event fostered unity, respect, and joy among the staff while remembering the invaluable contributions of teachers and the visionary leadership of His Majesty the Third King in shaping modern Bhutanโs education system.

Civil Service Wellness Day Celebration
Trashiyangtse Dzongkhag commemorated Civil Service Wellness Day with a series of wellness activities, including marathon races and Sorig Zhiney/Zumba sessions.
The program commenced at 6:00 AM at the Dzongkhag Parking Lot, followed by an address and marathon flag-off by the Chief Guest. Participants of Sorig Zhiney and Zumba proceeded to Trashiyangtse PS MP Hall, while marathon events were conducted across designated categories.
The event concluded with cultural performances by CZC trainees, award of medals and certificates, and refreshments.

The AI Workshop was conducted to strengthen teachersโ understanding of Artificial Intelligence and develop their ability to use AI tools effectively in teaching, learning, and professional work. The session focused on introducing teachers to AI platforms that can support lesson preparation, resource development, and classroom innovation. It also highlighted the growing importance of AI in education and its potential to improve productivity, personalize learning, and support better instructional planning.
During the workshop, the facilitators provided an overview of the history of Artificial Intelligence and demonstrated practical ways teachers can personalize and customize AI tools for better results. Participants learned how to write clear and effective prompts to generate useful outputs tailored to their teaching needs. Teachers were also introduced to platforms such as ChatGPT, Google Gemini, Google NotebookLM, and Canva Education, with demonstrations on how these tools can be used for lesson planning, worksheet creation, content summarization, and the design of engaging teaching-learning materials.
The workshop was interactive and gave teachers the opportunity to explore the educational applications of AI tools through discussion and hands-on activities. In conclusion, the session enhanced teachersโ practical understanding of AI and equipped them with strategies to integrate technology into their classroom practices. It is recommended that similar workshops be organized regularly to further strengthen teachersโ digital skills and support the effective use of emerging technologies in education.

A sensitization programme on youth and crime prevention was conducted for students of Classes IIโVI to raise awareness on responsible behaviour, personal safety, and child protection.
Session 1: Led by Royal Bhutan Police, the session covered the definition of crime and youth crime, common offences such as bullying, vandalism, substance abuse, and online misconduct. Students were also informed about the legal, school, and personal consequences of such actions. Emphasis was placed on making positive choices, respecting others, and avoiding peer pressure.
Session 2: Conducted by Pema Choden (RENEW CSC), the session introduced RENEW, its services, and its role in promoting child rights and community awareness. Key programmes and collaborations, including those with UNICEF, were highlighted.
Session 3: Facilitated by Ngawang Pelmo (RENEW CSC), this session focused on child protection and different forms of abuse, including physical, emotional, and sexual abuse. Students were educated on recognizing warning signs, understanding โgood touch and bad touch,โ and the importance of speaking up and seeking help.
The programme successfully enhanced studentsโ awareness of youth crime, personal safety, and child rights. It encouraged responsible behaviour, respect for others, and confidence in seeking support when needed.
The session was informative and engaging, contributing positively to studentsโ overall awareness and well-being.
The school would like to extend its sincere gratitude to Royal Bhutan Police (RBP) and RENEW for conducting the informative and engaging sessions. Special appreciation is conveyed to RBP Official, Ms. Pema Choden, and Ms. Ngawang Pelmo for their valuable time, dedication, and efforts in educating our students on youth crime prevention, child protection, and personal well-being. Their expertise and interactive approach greatly contributed to the success of the programme and left a meaningful impact on the students. March 25, 2026 | A School Discipline Policy Orientation was conducted for students of Grades 4, 5, and 6 at Trashiyangtse Primary School on March 25, 2026. The session aimed to familiarize students with the schoolโs rules, expectations, and the importance of maintaining a positive and respectful learning environment.
The programme was led by school discipline coordinators, who explained key aspects of the discipline policy in a clear and age-appropriate manner. Topics included proper behavior in classrooms and school premises, respect for peers and teachers, punctuality, personal responsibility, and the consequences of misconduct. Emphasis was placed on building self-discipline, promoting mutual respect, and encouraging students to take ownership of their actions.

March 24, 2026 | Trashi Yangtse Primary School successfully launched its Whole School Approach Scouting Programme with a formal opening ceremony held on campus. The initiative marks an important step toward nurturing well-rounded students through structured scouting activities.
The programme will be conducted every Tuesday after the eighth period, ensuring active participation from all students and fostering consistency in skill development.
The ceremony featured a lively Red Flower Show, where students showcased their enthusiasm through scouting yells and songs. The performances reflected strong teamwork, discipline, and school spirit, setting a positive tone for the programme ahead.
The Scout Master, Mr. Dawa Gyeltshen, delivered an engaging session on the history of the Scouting Movement, along with its guiding principles and objectives in schools. He highlighted how scouting contributes to:
