The winners of the SPA Carnival, recently held at Gangrithang Primary School, were proudly applauded and congratulated during the morning assembly today.

Our young champions demonstrated determination, teamwork, confidence, and sportsmanship, achieving remarkable results and bringing immense pride to our school. Their success is a reflection of their hard work, commitment, and the guidance and support of their teachers.

The school would like to extend our heartfelt appreciation to the Dzongkhag Education Office Bumthang Sherig for providing this wonderful opportunity for our children to participate, compete, learn, and showcase their talents. Such platforms allow our students to grow beyond the classroom and develop important values such as teamwork, resilience, discipline, and healthy competition.

🗳️ 𝓓𝓮𝓶𝓸𝓬𝓻𝓪𝓬𝔂 𝓲𝓷 𝓐𝓬𝓽𝓲𝓸𝓷: 𝓢𝓬𝓱𝓸𝓸𝓵 𝓥𝓲𝓬𝓮-𝓒𝓪𝓹𝓽𝓪𝓲𝓷 𝓔𝓵𝓮𝓬𝓽𝓲𝓸𝓷

After meticulous planning and preparation, the Democracy Club successfully conducted the election for the School Vice-Captains yesterday, providing our students with an authentic opportunity to experience democracy in action.

The election process was preceded by nomination filing, campaigning, and candidate speeches, allowing the contestants to present their ideas, demonstrate their leadership qualities, and seek the confidence of their fellow students.

A total of four boys and four girls from Grade 7 contested for the positions of School Vice-Captains. Their willingness to step forward and contest demonstrated courage, confidence, and a commitment to taking on leadership responsibilities within the school.

More importantly, the election served as a practical lesson in democracy. It provided students with an opportunity to understand the importance of participation, informed choice, fairness, accountability, respect for different opinions, and responsible citizenship.

The school extends its heartfelt appreciation to the Dzongkhag Election Office for providing the necessary resources and valuable technical advice that supported the smooth and successful conduct of the election. Such collaboration helps create meaningful learning experiences and strengthens democratic practices among our young learners.

We are delighted to share the outstanding achievement of our students at the SPA Carnival for Choekhor Cluster, held today at Gangrithang Primary School.

Our school was proudly represented by 5 boys and 5 girls from each of Grades IV, V and VI, who participated enthusiastically in a range of sporting and physical activities, including Aerobic Dance.

Strengthening Early Literacy Through DIBELS 📚

As part of our continuous efforts to enhance teaching and learning, the English teachers of Classes 4–6 conducted an informative and educative session for the teaching staff over the weekend on the Dynamic Indicators of Basic Early Literacy Skills (DIBELS).

The session provided an overview of the purpose and importance of DIBELS as an evidence-based assessment tool used to monitor students’ early literacy development. Teachers were briefed on its key components, administration procedures, interpretation of assessment data, and how the results can be used to identify students’ learning needs and provide timely instructional support.

The programme served as a valuable platform for professional learning, strengthening teachers’ understanding of literacy assessment and reinforcing our shared commitment to improving reading outcomes for every learner.

We extend our sincere appreciation to the English teachers of Classes 4–6 for facilitating this meaningful and enriching session. Together, we continue to foster a culture of collaboration, professional growth, and excellence in education.

We were deeply honoured to welcome Dasho Dungchen (Secretary) of the Ministry of Education and Skills Development (MoESD), to Wangduechhoeling Lower Secondary School today.

Dasho was accompanied by Dasho Dzongdag, the Project Manager, engineers from the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport (MoIT), representatives from the construction company, as well as the Chief Dzongkhag Education Officer (CDEO) and the Principal Dzongkhag Education Officer (PDEO).

The delegation inspected the school infrastructure currently undergoing maintenance and the proposed site for new construction. The visit provided an invaluable opportunity for the school to receive insightful guidance on creating safe, functional, and sustainable learning environments.

Dasho shared practical and thoughtful advice, including the recommendation to refurbish existing toilet facilities instead of dismantling them, where feasible, to make the best use of available resources while improving students’ well-being.

Dasho also emphasised the importance of adopting a holistic approach when planning, maintaining, and constructing school infrastructure—ensuring that every development supports the needs, comfort, safety, and well-being of both students and teachers.

We sincerely thank Dasho and the entire delegation for their visit, invaluable guidance, and unwavering commitment to strengthening educational infrastructure. Their support and vision inspire us to continue creating a learning environment that is safe, inclusive, and conducive to quality education for every child.

In-House Professional Development on Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Education

As part of our continuous commitment to enhancing teaching and learning, Wangduechhoeling Lower Secondary School conducted an In-House Professional Development (PD) session today on the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Education. The session was facilitated by our ICT teacher, Mr. Tshewang Dorji.

The workshop introduced teachers to the transformative role of AI in modern education and demonstrated how AI tools can support lesson planning, develop engaging learning materials, generate differentiated activities, design assessments, provide timely feedback, and reduce administrative workload. Teachers also explored the importance of using AI responsibly, ethically, and critically to ensure that technology enhances—not replaces—the professional expertise and creativity of educators.

As education continues to evolve in the digital age, equipping teachers with AI literacy is becoming increasingly important. By embracing emerging technologies, we aim to create more engaging, inclusive, and personalized learning experiences for our students while preparing them with the skills needed for the future.

📚 A Heartfelt Gesture to Inspire Young Readers 📚

Wangduechhoeling Lower Secondary School extends our heartfelt gratitude to Mr. Kencho Norbu, Mangmi of Choekhor Gewog, for his generous initiative in organising and distributing books to schools across the Dzongkhag.

We are delighted and honoured to have received 25 copies of books through this thoughtful gesture. These books will undoubtedly enrich our school library and inspire our students to develop a lifelong love for reading and learning.
