The Final Year Bachelor of Engineering in Information Technology students proudly presented their Industry Research Project Proposals today!
The upcoming projects, which will run through June 2026, delve into cutting-edge areas such as AI-powered solutions, performance optimization, digital platforms, CRM, e-commerce systems, and smart applications. Each proposal is thoughtfully designed to address real-world problems with innovation and meaningful impact.
A heartfelt thank you to our incredible industry partners β Dragon Coders Private Limited Government Technology (GovTech) Agency, Royal Government of Bhutan DrukSmart SELISE Bhutan iTechnologies, NewEdge Technologies, and Newr Tech for mentoring and guiding our students. This moment also marks a major milestone. This is the first cohort that will embark on a 6-month industry internship in 2026, where theyβll bring these very projects to life within real-world environments.

From 15β21 September 2025, Dakzin- AI-powered Animal Intrusion Detection System for mitigating human-wildlife conflict-was successfully deployed for pilot testing at two remote agricultural sites in Bhutan: Zurphi (Zhemgang) and Beling (Trongsa).
This initiative was led by the Computing Technologies Department, College of Science & Technology (CST), Royal University of Bhutan (RUB), in partnership with the Agriculture Machinery & Technology Centre (AMTC), Department of Agriculture, Ministry of Agriculture & Livestock, with generous support from the Bhutan Foundation and co-financing from AMTC & CST.
π± The inaugural event and training brought together local leaders, community members, and farmersβ families-underscoring strong grassroots ownership to ensure long-term impact.

As part of the curriculum for the final year students of the Bachelor of Engineering in Information Technology (BE IT) programme, a six-month long Industry Internship Program and Industry Research Project are the key requirements designed to bridge academic knowledge with practical industry experience, In line with this objective, two teams of IT faculty members led by the Head of IT Department of the College of Science of Technology undertook a consultation visit to various relevant IT industries/organizations from July 1 to July 6, 2025. The main goal was to seek potential Internship placements for our students, and also to strengthen the Industry-Academia collaboration.

2. Clarification of industry expectations in terms of technical skills, soft skills, and workplace readiness
3. Expression of interest by firms in long-term engagements such as curriculum feedback and innovation projects
4. Positive response to the possibility of faculty-industry interaction for research and development
The consultation meetings were highly productive and reaffirmed the importance of strong ties between academia and industry. We thank all stakeholders once again for their cooperation and look forward to successful academia-industry collaborations that will empower our students and contribute to the development of the IT ecosystem both nationally and internationally
