The Gallery also features work by faculty, alumni and students in the Visual Arts and Design Department through exhibitions, workshops, and talks.

Formerly the The College of The Bahamas Art Gallery (COBAG) founded in 1996, The Pro Gallery was renamed in 1999 as an exhibition and project space at The University of The Bahamas. The Pro Gallery provides programming as an extension of the classroom, providing an opportunity to view and study original artwork by contemporary Bahamian, Caribbean and international artists.

"Dialogue with an Artist" premieres Thursday, 28 October featuring English born, Los Angeles-based artist Dave Smith who lived in the Bahamas in the 70s and 80s.

Join The Pro Gallery on Thursday, 28th October for "Dialogue with an Artist” featuring Los Angeles-based, English born painter Dave smith. Known for his signature postcard juxtapositions of Bahamian culture with undertones of foreign iconography, Smith will discuss his time living in The Bahamas in the 70s and 80s and inspiration behind his painting ‘Shake and Scape’ included in the MasterMinds exhibition. For its Fall 2021 exhibition 'MasterMinds' The Pro Gallery at the University of The Bahamas hosted a dialogue series with prominent figures in Bahamian art who joined curator Keisha Oliver to discuss themes surrounding the exhibition and Bahamian visual culture of the 80s and 90s. Premiering October 14th "Dialogue with A Historian" features Bahamian writer, historian, and art critic Patricia Meicholas.

The Pro Gallery at the University of The Bahamas is pleased to begin its virtual programming for the MasterMinds exhibition with a dialogue series featuring prominent figures in Bahamian art. Guests will join curator Keisha Oliver covering themes surrounding the exhibition and Bahamian visual culture of the 80s and 90s.

The series begins Thursday, 14 October with "Dialogue with a Historian" featuring Bahamian writer, historian, and art critic Patricia Glinton-Meicholas. The event will go live on the gallery's social media pages at 6pm EDT. For more information email [email protected].

Congratulations to Art Education senior Marknesha Bastian on being appointed as The Pro Gallery’s Fall 2021 gallery assistant. During her three years at UB Bastian has been a student ambassador for art and art education including her participation in exhibitions, public art projects, teaching assistantships and studio internships. She is looking forward to expanding her experience in arts administration and management during her time as The Pro Gallery's assistant.
