Dream Big. Explore More. Become Anything.
That was more than just our theme. It became the heartbeat of an unforgettable Career Day at Elite School of Excellence.
The day began with an inspiring opening assembly that truly set the tone. Our guest performer, Megan the Steel Pannist, who is also an agriculturist, reminded students that success does not have to fit into one box. She shared her journey of balancing university with her passion for music, creating multiple streams of income through her talent. Students were fully engaged and even got the chance to experience the steel pan firsthand before she delivered a stunning performance alongside our very own Dr. Glen Johnson on piano.
Our keynote speaker, Mr. Andre Kelly, brought powerful energy and real-world wisdom. He challenged students to start where they are, take intentional steps toward their goals, and develop the mindset of success now. His message was clear and impactful. Walk the walk, talk the talk, and believe in the future you are working toward. He left students reflecting on what may be holding them back and reminded them that they truly can become anything they desire.
Throughout the day, our career stations brought hands-on learning and exposure to life. Doctors Hospital Lab Services engaged students with live blood draw demonstrations and education, while Nurse Griffin of Happy Healing Home Care Nursing inspired students with insights into both the profession and the soft skills needed to succeed. The Oak Tree Medical Radiology team opened students’ eyes to opportunities in imaging technology and the growing demand in that field.
Flawless Institute energized the atmosphere with a friendly hair styling competition, allowing students to showcase creativity while learning about careers in cosmetology, aesthetics, and massage therapy. Many students walked away with prizes and, more importantly, a new sense of direction and possibility.
We were also pleased to have Captain Travis Robinson connect with students, sharing perspectives on aviation, communication, entrepreneurship, and public service, encouraging them to think beyond traditional career paths.
The day ended on a high note with a special demonstration by the Royal Bahamas Defense Force K-9 Unit. Students were introduced to career opportunities within this field, including working as a K-9 handler. The team brought along two of their trained dogs, King, a German Shepherd, and Snickers, a Belgian Malinois. They showcased impressive obedience and specialized training skills, which left students both amazed and inspired. It was a powerful reminder that even within uniformed services, there are diverse and exciting career paths to explore.
Today was a reminder that when students are exposed, they begin to envision, and when they envision, they begin to believe.

Elite School of Excellence seniors recently returned from our Florida College Tour, and the experience was both impactful and memorable.
We visited Florida Atlantic University, Palm Beach Atlantic University, Nova Southeastern University, and Barry University. Each campus tour was led by student ambassadors, which gave our students an authentic and relatable view of university life. They were able to ask thoughtful questions and hear firsthand about academics, scholarships, housing, and campus culture from those currently living the experience.
At FAU, students participated in a formal presentation before exploring the expansive campus with their ambassador guide. Palm Beach Atlantic stood out for its Christ-centered environment. One memorable moment was when the student ambassador asked to pray over our group in the chapel. At the end of that tour, Salease thoughtfully asked the ambassador whether he had ever visited The Bahamas. When he said no, she offered him a Bahamian one-dollar note on behalf of the class as a token of gratitude. He smiled and responded, “I love collecting foreign currency.” It was a simple but powerful gesture that reflected both initiative and pride in our country.
Nova Southeastern warmly welcomed us with gift bags and refreshments. Students explored the healing garden, toured impressive dorm facilities, and even saw The Bahamas represented along the campus walkway. Many of them ranked NSU among their favorites.
Barry University was another highlight. After lunch and a dynamic tour, two of our students, Shaniah and Salease, were invited to participate in an impromptu interview for Barry’s Instagram page. On the spot, they confidently shared brief reflections about their visit, and the entire group joined in the “Breakthrough at Barry” chant. Seeing them rise to the moment without preparation was something to be proud of. The video can now be viewed on Barry University’s Instagram page. We were also guided by a Bahamian student ambassador from Grand Bahama, which made the experience even more relatable.
Beyond the campuses, growth happened in everyday moments. Long drives turned into bonding sessions filled with music and laughter. One student learned how to pump gas independently for the first time. There were honest conversations about accountability, choices, and integrity. Those mentoring moments often become the most lasting lessons.
At the airport before departure, Shaniah and Salease once again demonstrated leadership and compassion. They noticed a woman seated nearby who appeared distressed while caring for her infant. With permission, they approached her to check if she was okay and offered assistance. The woman thanked them and explained she was simply overwhelmed in the moment. The girls quietly returned to their seats, but their empathy spoke volumes.
Students also enjoyed time at Sawgrass Mall, shared meals together at TGI Fridays and Chili’s, and ended the trip with a brief karaoke session filled with laughter. Even though the Airbnb pool was colder than expected, it did not stop the photos and memories from being made.
We are proud of how our seniors represented Elite School of Excellence. They engaged respectfully, stepped up when called upon, and showed maturity, initiative, and compassion throughout the trip. Experiences like this expand perspective and reveal character. That leaves us optimistic about the future of our students and our school community.
