This week I visited Itatiaia National Park () after quite a while!
I go there with my family since I was a child! This is one of my favorite places as we have not only amazing views and landscapes but a rare kind of fauna and flora that can only be found here!
This is the coldest and highest place in the state of Rio de Janeiro (yesterday the temperature reached -15,9° C / 3.38° F ❄️) so I found some frost left as I got there!

This is, definitely, one of the places you should visit when you come to Brazil! 🇧🇷

Hilda Hilst was a Brazilian poet, novelist, and playwright. She is one of the most important Portuguese-language authors of the twentieth century. This piece was extracted from the book "Da poesia", a poetical anthology of her work.

3 Books to Get Started in Modern Brazilian Literature

1. Ponciá Vicêncio by Conceição Evaristo
The book Ponciá Vicêncio wanders through paths, marks, dreams, and the disenchantment of a young black girl's identity and ancestry. Through a dialogue between present and past, reality and imagination, the author discusses racism and violence, but also the power of imagination and rebellious joy against the hypocrisy of the oppressors.

2. Felicidade Clandestina by Clarice Lispector
This is a collection of texts written at different times in Lispector's life. She addresses themes through a psychological investigation of self-analysis, her childhood, adolescence, family, and questions of the soul. Many of these texts are autobiographical, and it is possible to dive into her childhood in Recife, in the state of Pernambuco.

3. Capitães da Areia by Jorge Amado
This awarded novel tells the story of a gang of street children struggling, stealing and trying to make the best of the streets of Salvador, Bahia, in early twentieth century. Adapted to the cinema and translated to more than 30 languages, this book is one of the most important books in Brazilian literature.
