UP AESYS supports the Division of Agricultural Extension and Rural Studies of Agricultural Systems Institute of UPLB (DAERS-ASI) in their promotion of the MS Rural Sociology Program. This graduate program is the ONLY MS Rural Sociology Program offered in Southeast Asia. 😮

Half of the current students of the MSRS program come from non-Sociology backgrounds such as agriculture, development communication, communication arts, and agricultural economics. These students realize that in order to be more effective working in their respective organizations, they should have a deeper understanding of how rural societies are structured and how different parts of rural societies function.
One such student is Mr. Raem Dominic Brion. He seeks to complement his BS Degree in Agriculture with a Graduate Degree in Rural Sociology in the promotion and advancement of his research interest and his life’s passion, Agriculture-Tourism for Rural Development. The MSRS program helps him to better understand the interplay among the drivers and impacts of tourism, agricultural processes and different aspects of rural life.
