Dear coaches, advisers, and parents who are waiting for results in cartooning and the special writing competition: Please do consider the circumstances of the SILAK staff who are all college students. The one in charge of the tabulation of winners in these particular categories is a student teacher stationed in Pototan town, Iloilo province which is about 40 minutes away from Iloilo City. If you are a teacher, you would understand that one can get out of the campus only after most students have gone home. Thus, our tabulator could attend to SILAK concerns only during weekends. We invite you to visit our tiny office and see for yourself the arrangement of Panulaton documents and you will come to the conclusion that it is akin to looking for a needle in a haystack. Our tabulator is the only one who knows where these documents are, given the mountain of papers in the office and we would not want to disorganize what has already been arranged. Rest assured, our tabulator will get the job done by next week. Thank you for your patience. -- Hazel Villa, SILAK adviser
Panulaton 2014
A Regional Journalism Workshop
Dear advisers, coaches, and parents of students joining the photojournalism competition: You may have noticed that there are only a few winners in this competition. While we were prepared to award ten winners in each of the competition categories, this did not happen because the chief judges and their assistant judges have decided on picking only the winning photos of which the corresponding winning photojournalist was given the winning rank. While we did explain to the judges that they should choose ten for each competition category, they maintained their stand and SILAK has to respect the contest rules that the judges’ decision is final and irrevocable. If you are not satisfied with this explanation, kindly come over to the Silak Office at the WVSU College of Education and we will show to you the results and the outputs. – Hazel Villa, SILAK adviser

Panulaton 2014 List of Winners (Part 1)
We thank God Almighty for physically protecting 2,577 Panulaton participants that despite the bad weather, everyone was safe. Our deepest appreciation to the Iloilo City Police Office for the uniformed and non-uniformed policemen who patrolled Punta Villa and the Iloilo City Emergency Response Team on 24-hour standby. Likewise, our deepest appreciation to the bus drivers and conductors who ferried our participants from their hotels to the venue. To God be the Glory.
Panulaton results will be posted on Wednesday.
