For a longtime now I have been choreographing for my students, events, performances, corporates, workshops as well as for myself & all of a sudden this idea just popped out of my mind…. "Why not share titbits of my works with everyone keen on exploring my choreographies virtually from their living rooms?" So here is my initiative - "DANCE TO MY RHYTHM" where I'll be posting Reels of my own dance videos. You have the opportunity to learn/follow & re-showcase. Oh yeah! An humble attempt to this beautiful composition presented by Shekar Rajendran Art Factory

Theruvil Varano
This padam is about a lovelorn maiden (devotee) who looks out for the passing chariot--palanquin/procession carrying the lord of Cidambaram hoping to have a darshan and a loving glance of compassion from him to assuage her longing for the lord Nataraja. She is wondering whether the street in which she lives will be on the procession route and whether the lord will cast a glance at her waiting at her door-front. She wishes that the lord will halt in front of her door and whisper sweet nothings to her.

I had saved the link to the lyrics and meaning a while back. Here is my adaptation of it.

Its a beautiful composition that shows the love of a maiden for her Nayaka or a Hero. She waits eagerly for his arrival through her street and wonders if he will stop and give her a compassionate glance. Will these NAYIKAS are able to get that glance of their Nayaka.

Another spin to this is, all the dancers here represent as the artistes who are eagerly waiting to attain the art form with them, and they seek out to achieve them, here I represent as that artform ; and the story says it all....with sheer determination, passion, sincerity and commitment one can search within themselves to reach that salvation, like how one can see the god within....
