✨ Artist Spotlight: Viktor Petrov ✨
Going Backwards in a Circle (2025) transforms a used glass-ceramic stove-top into a mirror inscribed with the question: “Did you turn off the stove?”
What seems like a fleeting domestic worry becomes something a reflection on how society divides our labor. Viktor juxtaposes the cosmic (telescopes built from the same material) with the kitchen (the everyday stove), reminding us how culture ranks “productive” work above the invisible, essential labor of home and care. His art bridges these worlds, aligning the mundane with the extraordinary.
Through his practice, Viktor seeks to “deconstruct and rearrange the visual syntax of the predominant patriarchal, class, and economic narratives.” His works consistently challenge us to notice the structures that shape our lives with a certain sharpness and humor.
Viktor’s momentum carries across Europe, with exhibitions in Sofia, Berlin, Leipzig, Hamburg, and now Milan, at the Tempesta Gallery, where he is part of Through Invisible Walls this fall until November 7th 2025. The Herbarium Collection is proud to have his voice in the Cultural Nomads exhibition, visible at the Bulgarian Cultural Institute in Berlin until October 10th.
