We are excited to invite you to a Negotiation School taking place on 10 May 2026 at the Mirror Hall (Огледална зала, Нова конферентна) of Sofia University.

The event is organized by the initiative of the Mediation and Negotiation Club (Кръжок по медиация и преговори) at the Law Faculty of Sofia University in collaboration with the International Moot Court Competitions Association.

🔹 What to expect:

Interactive sessions on negotiation strategies

Practical exercises and roleplays

Insights into principled negotiation and value creation

Opportunity to develop key communication and advocacy skills

Lecturers: Ms Kristiyana Nikolova, Ms Kristina Gorcheva, Mrs Dima Alexandrova who have coached for the international fora in mediation and negotiation in Paris and Vienna.

Between 28 March and 4 April 2026, the Bulgarian delegation—comprising students from New Bulgarian University and Plovdiv University—took part in the 67th International Rounds of the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition in Washington, D.C.

This year also marked the first edition of the competition featuring hybrid rounds, introduced due to ongoing travel complications affecting some of the more than 800 teams competing worldwide, including 164 teams attending the international rounds.

🤩 This year’s Bulgarian national champion, New Bulgarian University, delivered an outstanding debut by ranking 3rd overall in the Memorial Ranking Results. The team—Milkana Stoycheva, Magdalena Ekmekchiyan, Momchil Bonev, Murad Tabakov, Georgia-Nicalas Yordanova, and coach Ivaylo Dimitrov—achieved one of the highest memorial rankings in the history of Bulgarian participation in the Jessup.

✒️ In the written memorial rankings, the team from Plovdiv University—also winners of the Best Memorials award at the national rounds—secured another remarkable achievement, placing 7th overall and 3rd in the combined memorial rankings. The team included Anna Aylova, Borislav Arabadzhiev, Debora Mikhaleva, Miroslava Boeva, and Pavel Vasilev, coached by Vyara Trifonova and Todor Rogoshev.

👩‍⚖️ In the oral rounds, the Plovdiv University team achieved the highest ranking among the Bulgarian teams, advancing to the elimination rounds and placing 39th overall. This performance ensures that two Bulgarian teams will compete at the International Rounds of the Jessup 2027 edition.

➡️ Individually, Milkana Stoycheva ranked an impressive 68th out of 547 speakers at the international rounds. Her teammates from New Bulgarian University followed closely, with Momchil Bonev placing 135th and Magdalena Ekmekchiyan 141st. Debora Mikhaleva and Borislav Arabadzhiev also secured places in the top 200 oralists, ranking 153rd and 165th respectively.

🎉 Beyond the competition, the teams had the opportunity to connect with Bulgarians representing other universities, visit key institutions and landmarks, and share unforgettable moments with fellow students from around the world.
