I realised I haven’t properly introduced myself here. My name is Aleks, and I’m the founder of Learn with Aleks and Scribble the Squirrel.

I specialise in primary tuition, supporting children with:

Most of my work is online through 1:1 lessons and video coaching, and I also run face-to-face classes in Ealing.

💌 Today, I received a card that truly stopped me in my tracks

One of my long-term students, whom I’ve taught online for five years, sent me this beautiful message. Although we’ve never met in person, the bond we’ve built is strong and full of trust.

It made me emotional. It was a reminder that, screen or no screen, we can all build meaningful, heartfelt relationships.

This card made me pause and realise again… this is why I do what I do.

Does your child do the same?

Here’s a quick look at how I teach spatial awareness without using finger spaces. Many of my students, especially my neurodivergent learners, find finger spacing confusing and frustrating.

So instead, I use colourful dots to show exactly where the next word should start. Over time, it just clicks — no stress, no fingers, just confidence building!

Why do I care about handwriting so much?

When I started tutoring handwriting over 10 years ago, I never expected just how much joy it would bring me.
I’ve always loved watching the transformation children make in their learning, but with handwriting, it’s something they can see for themselves. They can hold it in their hands, stick it proudly on the fridge, and say, “Look what I did!”

There’s something truly magical about seeing a child go from shy scribbles to confident, flowing letters.

That moment when they notice their progress; their eyes light up, their smile grows, and suddenly it’s not just about writing… It’s about confidence.

Handwriting becomes a celebration of expression, achievement, and pride.

That’s exactly why I created Scribble the Squirrel — to help families support their children on this journey with encouragement, practical tips, and a little bit of fun along the way.
