I’m rooting for you, Vida! ✨ I’ve got to get better at making videos.

Dear Sam, I miss you. I miss your face. I miss your paws. I miss how you’d book it toward me almost every time I came home. I miss fighting for you. I miss who I got to be with you. I miss you so much. I see bats and let myself pretend they’re you. I see the sun shimmering through the leaves and let myself think it’s you. I miss believing that we would have more time together.
I haven’t given up. I’m angry, but I’m also grateful. I love you so freaking much.

This photo was taken just over a year ago. I wasn’t the one who took it.

Buddy’s Meow House has updated wishlists on Amazon. 🐾

This is one person, doing what she can, for the animals who have nowhere else to go. If you’ve ever wanted to help but didn’t know how, you can literally fill a cup, a bowl, a pantry shelf — one small thing at a time.

Please fill our cups. 🤍
Every item helps me keep going, and every bit of support goes directly toward caring for the animals in my care.

I thought we had more time

Thinking about that time Samuel purposely pranced over to p*e on the couch, and I watched in disbelief.

To the thoughtful person who sent me the locket with Samuel’s photo inside: 🥺

He’s not the owner. He is one of six.

The individual who asked me for help, Kotze, told me that very evening not to mind the man and to continue. I took his words with a grain of salt.

That morning, I waited 90 minutes for the police to show up. In the end, I went to the police station myself and filed a report.

For the next few days, I stopped entering an area that I had not broken into, damaged, or used coercion to enter. I fed Mariah and her older kittens from the other side of the fence.

But I was adamant about checking on the babies. Just in and out.

As I came out, Mariah greeted me warmly. At that very moment, the aggressive man started yelling at me to leave. Mariah’s entire demeanour changed.

He swiftly called the police, and they swiftly came. I could hear him across the street complaining that the cats were scratching his car.

The police told me that if they had caught me inside, they would have detained me. They told me that if I enter again and they catch me, they will detain me.

They also said that I need written consent. But after looking into the law myself, I couldn’t find any provision requiring that consent from an owner be given in writing.

Then they mentioned moving the babies, and my heart sank.

I haven’t had access to the babies in two days now. I haven’t seen Kotze since that night.

I plan on returning to the police station once I speak to Kotze. I don’t have his phone number, or I would have called him by now.

I don’t want revenge or to be right. I just want a safe, clear path forward—for Mariah and her babies, and for me.

I’ll share videos of the moment Mariah’s demeanour changed.
