It could all come down to Brazilian Raphinha, Spaniard Lamine Yamal, and Frenchman Ousmane Dembélé.

This is an individual award that isn't always unanimous, with some votes already receiving harsh criticism.
For example, Real Madrid boycotted the 2024 Ballon d'Or ceremony, believing its striker, Vinicius Jr., deserved the award more than Spain and Manchester City midfielder Rodri.

: Professor Halidou Tinto receives the Al-Sumait Foundation Prize from Kuwait

This award, announced by the National Center for Scientific and Technological Research (CNRST) of Burkina Faso, recognizes the work of the Burkinabe pharmacist, particularly his work on the RTS,S and R21 vaccines, two vaccines recommended by the WHO for malaria prevention.

Professor Tinto was recognized alongside two other Africans (one Ghanaian and one Ugandan).
“Through Professor Halidou Tinto, the entire Burkinabe research community, and particularly the CNRST, is honored. This award and many others won by researchers place the CNRST in the firmament of scientific research,” the CNRST is pleased to announce.

The Catholic University of Louvain awarded Professor Halidou Tinto the title of Doctor Honoris Causa on February 3.

Professor Tinto also received the African Pharmacy Award for Excellence in Research and Innovation.
This latter distinction was awarded to him by the Inter-Order of Pharmacists of Africa (IOPA) on May 1, 2025.
