Listening in another language can be hard! One tip to practice your listening skills is to try to understand the big picture. Don't get stuck trying to understand every single word, because then you may fall behind in the conversation or miss the main point of a video.

As you improve your listening skills, you will gradually understand more and more, but don't expect to understand everything right away! 👂💡

Learning tips : Essay Writing

(Les examens s'annoncent, voici notre contribution au succès des candidats à l'épreuve de l'anglais).

Essay Writing
To succeed the “writing activity” of any text in English, a few rules and steps should rigorously be respected. The writing itself should be organized into at least three coherent paragraphs. Each paragraph has to include the following :
1. Reformulate the topic (paragr1 only)
2. Provide accurate ideas
3. Explain each provided idea
4. Give possible examples to uphold your idea being explained earlier. (This goes for every paragraph).

Basing ourselves on the attached text (picture), let us now apply practically the so-called rules mentioned above.
Topic : In Congo as in Burkina Faso, insecurity has forced people to leave their homes. According to you, how can we help internally displaced people?

Possible answer.
In Congo as in Burkina Faso, insecurity has forced people to leave their homes. According to me, to help internally displaced people (IDP), we should firstly welcome them warmly, then provide them with humanitarian assistance. In effect, these IDP often leave their homes empty hands, that is, without taking anything. So providing them with basic needs is more than necessary. For example, we could facilitate their access to secured shelter, food, pure water and medical care. Those things are very helpful to IDP.
Secondly, we must create job opportunities and entertainment possibilities for internally displaced people. Indeed, work and recreation can help IDP to both generate their own revenues and forget somehow physical or mental trauma they may have gone through. For example, adult people could learn jobs like saponifying, hairdressing. And games like football, basketball, videogames for children are alleviating as well.
Finally, governments should quickly commit for immediate conflict resolution process. In fact, resolving immediately the conflict may lead to a possible reinstallation of the internally displaced population in their original locations. For example, ceasefires, negotiations between different concerned parties and other peace talks might help solve the issue in a short time.
