HEY LISTEN UP. 🤍🐾
Depending on where you live, like me - It's foxtail season. These little barbed menaces can cause serious emergencies for both pets and kids. I speak from experience!
Protect your family by:
1. Wearing long pants, close toed shoes, and socks when you're out and about. Even in your yard, have kids wear socks and shoes. If your pet will wear booties hiking, do it!
2. Hair check a couple of times a day. Finger brush or comb gently through pet hair. Be gentle because foxtail heads break into smaller barbed pieces that can wiggle into skin. Do the same for kids.
3. CHECK BEDDING. Pull barbs out of beds, blankets, mattresses, etc. Give a quick vacuum. Wash everything!
4. Clean floors regularly. If you're in between whole room sweeping or vacuuming tasks and yousee a foxtail, pick it up and toss it in a covered garbage bin.
5. Trim the fur around pets' back ends to give less opportunity for a foxtail to wind its way around unmentionables.
6. CHECK PAWS, EARS, AND EYES OFTEN. One of my family members got a barb in her eye. We needed immediate vet attention. We were lucky. Kids need this checked often too. You never know.
