🩺 Tenoscopy is a minimally invasive endoscopic procedure used to diagnose and treat tendon injuries within the tendon sheaths of horses.
👉🏻 Combined with advanced imaging techniques such as MRI and contrast-enhanced CT, it allows subtle tendon lesions to be accurately identified and treated before they progress.
In this case, a tear of the deep digital flexor tendon within the digital flexor tendon sheath is treated, one of the more common causes of lameness in show jumping horses. The torn tendon fibres were debrided, the tendon lesion was refreshed using a motorised shaver to stimulate healing, and a desmotomy of the annular ligament was performed to decompress the fetlock canal and reduce pressure on the flexor tendons.
At Bosdreef, advanced imaging and minimally invasive surgery go hand in hand to achieve the most accurate diagnosis, the least surgical trauma, and the best possible long-term outcome.
