Vibrant Celebration at Theatre die Rietwijker on the June 27!

SWAHILI DAG AMSTERDAM 2026 returns bigger at Theatre de Rietwijker on Saturday, June 27. Swahili Outfit of the Year is a standout program within the event, celebrating Swahili-inspired fashion from East Africa and the diaspora.

Swahili Outfit participation Process:
Participants aged 14+ submit one photo of their outfit plus a short story (100 words max) explaining its Swahili inspiration via the online form. Entries open now and run through May 31, with social media mini-competitions (likes, shares, comments) selecting 3 finalists per category: Royal (ceremonial/heritage), Casual (everyday style), Contemporary (modern fusion). you don’t have to be a model or a designer to join it’s about the outfit and Swahili vibes.

Finalists get to travel support to showcase live at Theatre de Rietwijker on June 27, where a jury and public vote crown the winners. Prizes include Fanaka Real Estates Kenya sponsorship gifts, certificates, and feature on event media.

The program shall include among others: Various East African artists both from home and diaspora like Makadem (Nyatiti & Benga fusion maestro-Kenya), DJ Erick da Gavament (Kenyan party king -Kenya), Matasyo Kagwa (international storyteller -Kenya), and John Kayongo (Boneless Dancer/ Choreographer), just to mention a few and of course delicious Swahili food, live music, cultural showcases, and the KidzSafari program.

Organized by The Milroy Company, Stichting Pamoja, Swahili global vibes Stichting Rietwijk Theatre, and sponsored by Fanaka Real Estates Kenya.
