Exactly be who you are and accept.

Seven De Niro children grew up far from the spotlight.

Airyn is one of Robert De Niro's seven children. Airyn has a twin brother, Julian, and her mother is actress and model Toukie Smith.

Growing up, Airyn De Niro often felt she did not fit in. Airyn said she was told she was not Black enough, not white enough, too feminine, not masculine enough.

What changed things for Airyn was seeing trans women share their lives openly and succeed. Maybe it's not too late for me, Airyn remembered thinking.

When Airyn came out publicly, her father Robert De Niro answered with love for Airyn as his daughter. For De Niro, it was no big deal, because he loves all of his children the same way.
