July Movement will be a memorable chapter in the history of Bangladesh. The movement that started in July 2024 centered around the quota movement and through this movement, Bangladesh was able to gain their second independence through the fall of 16 years of autocracy. This movement started in July. The overthrow of the government through this movement was originally called the July Movement. The quota reform movement of 2018 resulted in quota reforms in government jobs but the circular was scrapped in 2024. As a result, lakhs of job-seeking students took to the streets to demand quota reforms. But dictator Sheikh Hasina did not listen to the common students and instead called the students Razakars.
As a result, angry students came out of Dhaka University and other public universities and held a protest march on the night of the 14th. As a result, on the 15th, the Government Chhatra League attacked Dhaka Universityโs common students and injured thousands of students. As a result, all the students of Bangladesh came down to the streets to protest.
On the 16th, the police shot at Begum Rokeya University student Abu Saeed in Rangpur and Abu Saeed became the first martyr. After that, thousands of people, including Wasim Akram, sold their lives to achieve the second independence of Bangladesh. As a result, Sheikh Hasinaโs government was forced to flee the country on August 5. As a result, Bangladesh was freed from a dictatorship after 1971 by achieving its second independence. So, the July Movement will be a historical event in the history of Bangladesh.
