1872 ঔপনিবেশিক ভারত, পানাম। (এখন সোনারগাঁও,বাংলাদেশ)।

কাম্পানি কা কোটহি (ব্রিটিশ ইস্ট ইন্ডিয়া কোম্পানি ফ্যাক্টরি), পানাম, সোনারগাঁও।

সোনারগাঁও খ্যাতিমান ঢাকা (ঢাকা) মসলিন উৎপাদনকারী ছিল।

17 শতকের মাঝামাঝি ইস্ট ইন্ডিয়া কোম্পানি মসলিনের ব্যবসার জন্য ঢাকা জেলায় কারখানা স্থাপন করে।

এই দৃষ্টিভঙ্গিতে ভবনটি সংক্ষিপ্তভাবে জে. ওয়াইজ, সোনারগাঁও , ইস্টার্ন বেঙ্গল (জার্নাল অফ দি এশিয়াটিক সোসাইটি অফ বেঙ্গল, খণ্ড XLIII, খণ্ড I, কলকাতা, 1874), পৃ. 91:

'পুরানো কাম্পানি কা কোটহি একটি চতুর্ভুজাকার দ্বিতল, দেশীয়, ইটের বিল্ডিং, যার ভিতরে একটি তোরণযুক্ত প্রাঙ্গণ রয়েছে। এটি একটি ভাড়া বাড়ি ছিল, এবং এখন হিন্দু কর্মকার বা স্মিথদের দ্বারা দখল করা হয়েছে...'

পাইনাম, পানাম বা পানামনগর ঢাকা থেকে ১৫ মাইল পূর্বে মেঘনা নদীর তীরে বাংলাদেশে অবস্থিত।

পানাম সম্ভবত পূর্ব বাংলার প্রথম দিকের মুসলিম গভর্নরদের বাসভবন ছিল যাদের রাজধানী ছিল সোনারগাঁওয়ে, কাছাকাছি একটি সমৃদ্ধ বন্দর এবং বাণিজ্যিক কেন্দ্র।

শহরটি পরবর্তীতে ইস্ট ইন্ডিয়া কোম্পানি দ্বারা পরিচালিত সুতি কাপড়ের ব্যবসার কেন্দ্র ছিল।

1872 সালে ডব্লিউ ব্রেনান্ডের তোলা আর্কিওলজিক্যাল সার্ভে অফ ইন্ডিয়া কালেকশন থেকে ইস্ট ইন্ডিয়া কোম্পানির কারখানা, পাইনাম, সোনারগাঁও-এর ছবি।
