This achievement marks another significant step in their continued commitment to research, academic excellence, and professional development on an international platform.

🌱 Human–AI Co-Designing in ELT: Localising, Personalising, and Humanising AI-Supported Teaching

Two-Day long Human–AI Co-Designing in ELT Showcase organized by the Department of English successfully concluded on 12 August 2026, a pedagogical initiative led by Rabeya Binte Habib, Assistant Professor, Department of English.

Over two days, 28 student groups demonstrated their AI-supported microteaching, impressing reviewers with their rigorous, detailed and engaging integration of AI throughout their teaching. The seven highest-scoring groups subsequently performed before a wider audience.

The showcase also featured three international speakers. Nik Peachey, Director of Pedagogy, Peachy Publications, the Closing Keynote Speaker, explored how prompt quality shapes AI-generated teaching materials; Graham Stanley, Teacher Education Lead at British Council UK, highlighted key priorities for contemporary teacher education, including collaboration and teamwork; and Dr Şirin Soyöz Yılmaz, AI in ELT Professional Learning Specialist, emphasised professional collaboration and introduced students to opportunities within the British Council Community of Practice. Each session was followed by an engaging Q&A with students.

An alumni session further encouraged students to go beyond grades—to become job-ready, professionally confident, and prepared for opportunities to study abroad.

The initiative reflects a growing commitment to connecting AI literacy with pedagogical decision-making, teacher development, and professional readiness, while informing the ongoing development of ELT curriculum and practice.

🎭 DRAMA FEST 2026: Echoes of Bengal 🇧🇩✨
A celebration of stories, traditions, creativity, and student artistry!

As part of the continuous assessment of Introduction to Drama, the students of Batch 64, Sections A, B, C, E and F transformed the stage into five distinctive worlds of Bengali storytelling—each rooted in a unique cultural form and reimagined through their creativity.

What made this fest truly special was the students’ complete ownership of the productions. From scriptwriting, acting and direction to stage design, props, costumes and presentation, every element was created and managed by the students themselves.

Under the guidance of Course Instructor Rubaiaat-E-Tarik Prithwee, the students explored distinct Bengali cultural forms and brought them onto the contemporary stage. She guided each section in developing its signature cultural element and supported them through script editing and stage direction.

This was more than an assessment—it was an opportunity to learn drama by doing drama, while reconnecting with the rich and diverse artistic traditions of Bengal. 🎭❤️🇧🇩

Students stepped into the shoes of memorable characters, blending literature, creativity, performance, and imagination beyond the classroom. 📚🎬

The Department of English, Daffodil International University, organised a vibrant Cosplay Event for the students of Batch 66, Sections A, B, C, D & E, coordinated by course teacher Mahinur Akther, Lecturer, Department of English.

Students stepped into the shoes of diverse characters from English and Bengali novels, dramas, and other literary works, bringing beloved characters from the pages to life through creativity, costumes, and performance. The event offered a unique way to explore literature beyond the classroom—turning characters, stories, and imagination into a lively and memorable experience. 📚🎭✨

On Thursday, a seminar titled “The Radiance of Youth in Contemporary Bangla Poetry” was organised by the Department of English at Daffodil International University.

The keynote speech was delivered by poet and editor Obayed Akash. Poet and publisher Saikat Habib served as the chief discussant, while poet and fiction writer Monika Chakraborty and Dr. Kamrun Nahar Shila, Associate Professor in the Department of Bangla at Comilla University, participated as special discussants. The event was chaired by poet Shafik Imtiaz and moderated by Professor Dr. Binoy Barman.

Several faculty members from the Department of English at Daffodil International University, including Ariful Islam Laskar, Kamrunnahar Mou, and Israt Jahan Supti, were also present. With the enthusiastic participation of a large number of students, the seminar was vibrant and engaging, providing a lively space for discussion on the energy, creativity, and emerging voices of youth in contemporary Bangla poetry.

🎭 From a Trip to the Theatre Visit

The Department of English, Daffodil International University, recently organised an industry visit for Batch 64 students as part of Introduction to Drama, taking learning beyond the classroom and into the world of theatre.

Under the guidance of Rubaiaat-E-Tarik Prithwee, Course Teacher, students experienced a contemporary adaptation of Rabindranath Tagore’s Roktokorobi, staged by the Department of Drama and Dramatics, Jahangirnagar University.The production brought the text to life through movement, imagination, and contemporary expression, offering students a fresh perspective on drama and theatre.

Through such visits, the Department of English continues to connect classroom learning with artistic practice and real-world theatrical experience—encouraging students to not only study drama, but to experience it.
