চারণভূমি ও তৃণভূমি পুনরুদ্ধারের আহ্বান পরিবেশ মন্ত্রীর

পরিবেশ, বন ও জলবায়ু পরিবর্তন মন্ত্রী আবদুল আউয়াল মিন্টু বলেছেন, বাংলাদেশ মরুভূমির দেশ না হলেও মরুময়তা, ভূমি অবক্ষয় এবং খরার ঝুঁকি থেকে মুক্ত নয়। জলবায়ু পরিবর্তনের বিরূপ প্রভাব, অনিয়ন্ত্রিত ভূমি ব্যবহার, মাটির উর্বরতা হ্রাস, লবণাক্ততার বিস্তার, নদীভাঙন, বন উজাড় এবং দীর্ঘস্থায়ী শুষ্ক মৌসুম দেশের বিভিন্ন অঞ্চলে ভূমি অবক্ষয়ের ঝুঁকি বাড়িয়ে তুলছে। বিশেষ করে উত্তর-পশ্চিমাঞ্চলের খরাপ্রবণ এলাকা, উপকূলীয় অঞ্চলের লবণাক্ত জমি, পার্বত্য অঞ্চলের ক্ষয়প্রাপ্ত পাহাড়ি ভূমি এবং নদী অববাহিকার ভঙ্গুর ইকোসিস্টেম উদ্বেগের কারণ হয়ে উঠেছে। তিনি সবাইকে চারণভূমি ও তৃণভূমি পুনরুদ্ধারের আহ্বান জানান।

গতকাল রাজধানীর পরিবেশ অধিদপ্তরে বিশ্ব মরুময়তা ও খরা দিবস ২০২৬ উপলক্ষ্যে আয়োজিত এক কর্মশালায় প্রধান অতিথির বক্তৃতায় মন্ত্রী এ আহ্বান জানান।
পরিবেশ মন্ত্রী বলেন, বিশ্ব মরুময়তা ও খরা দিবস শুধু একটি আন্তর্জাতিক দিবস নয়।
