We are proud to share that the students of the Department of Law, SIU, Sylhet International University, have successfully completed an insightful Court Visit Program at the District and Sessions Judge’s Court, Sylhet, and the Chief Judicial Magistrate Court, Sylhet.

Guided by the expert supervision of Mst. Sathi Mony, Lecturer, Department of Law, SIU, our students stepped out of their textbooks and into the heart of the legal system. This visit provided them with invaluable practical knowledge of real-world court proceedings, legal documentation, and the intricacies of judicial conduct.

Key Highlights of the Visit:
1. Real-time Observations: Students witnessed live trials and hearings, gaining a deeper understanding of how justice is administered.
2. Procedural Insights: Learned firsthand about the roles of judges, lawyers, and court officials in both civil and criminal jurisdictions.

We are delighted to announce that the collaborative Research Workshop between the Department of Law, SIU, SIU Legal Research Society, and Army Institute of Business Administration - AIBA, Sylhet, was concluded with great success!

The SIU Auditorium was buzzing with intellectual curiosity as our students took a deep dive into the world of legal scholarship.

Highlights of the Session:

i. Inspirational Leadership: We were honored by the presence of our Chief Guest, Prof. Dr. Ashraful Alam (Vice Chancellor, SIU), whose words set a powerful tone for the importance of academic inquiry.

ii. Expert Guidance: The session was gracefully presided over by our Session Chair, A. K. M. Sohel Habib Nowroz (Head, Dept. of Law, SIU).

iii. Keynote Insights: Our keynote speakers, Dr. Tasnimul Islam and Md. Ahsanul Islam from Army IBA, Sylhet, delivered thought-provoking presentations that bridged the gap between theory and practical research methodology.

Celebrating Legal Brilliance: A Day of Excellence at Sylhet International University

The Department of Law at Sylhet International University (SIU) recently transformed into a hub of intellectual fervor and academic celebration. The campus grounds witnessed a grand ceremony honoring the victors of the Legal Quiz Competition, the Asian Parliamentary Debate Competition, and the high achievers of the Academic Achievement Awards.

It was a day where logic met law, and hard work met its well-deserved recognition.

The ceremony was graced by the esteemed presence of Prof. Dr. Md. Ashraful Alam, Vice Chancellor of SIU, who attended as the Chief Guest. His inspiring words emphasized the importance of extracurricular engagement in shaping the legal leaders of tomorrow.

The event was further dignified by special guests, including:
1. Prof. Nitai Chandra Chanda, Treasurer, SIU.
2. Prof. Md. Tutiur Rahman, Dean, Faculty of Law.
3. Prof. Md. Shamsul Alam, Dean, Faculty of Business Administration.

The program was presided over by A. K. M. Sohel Habib Nowroz, Head & Assistant Professor of the Department of Law, while the proceedings were elegantly anchored by Maisha Nawar, Lecturer, Department of Law.

The day began with a warm reception as the Department cordially welcomed two newly appointed faculty members: Md. Shawkat Alam Faisal and Maisha Nawar. Their addition to the team signifies the department’s continuous growth and commitment to quality legal education.

In a touch of gratitude, tokens of appreciation were presented to the faculty members who served as Adjudicators. Their rigorous evaluation and mentorship were the backbone of the fair and competitive spirit seen throughout the tournament.

Today, the halls of Sylhet International University were buzzing with intellectual energy as we hosted the Law Quiz Competition 2026 organized by the Department of Law, SIU.

From the foundational principles of the Constitution of the People's Republic of Bangladesh to the technicalities of the Specific Relief Act 1877, our students showed they are truly the future of the legal profession in Bangladesh.
