Associate Professor & Head of the English Department Shammi Akter welcomed the 70th Batch freshers by wishing them that choosing to study English is a profound decision. All the faculty members of English Department were present in today's orientation. The programme was hosted by Tasnia from 65th batch and Maisha from 67th batch, Department of English, Leading University.

A day-long workshop was held today, organised by Bangladesh Accreditation Council and Leading University's Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) titled “Preparation for Accreditation: Documentation and Evidence" for ensuring Quality Assurance in Higher Education on 18 May 2026 in Gallery-1 at Leading University, Sylhet, Bangladesh.

The workshop focused on BAC accreditation standards, Outcome-Based Education (OBE), Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI), assessment strategies, and quality assurance practices in higher education.

Heartfelt congratulations to Haleema from the Department of English for being honored with the Best Student Award 2025 at the Spring Semester 2026 orientation, on her brilliant success at the completion of Graduation. 🏆🎉🎓

We are delighted to share with you all that A student from 61st batch of English Department, Leading University, Ohona Anjum Jui has received a prestigious Fellowship for the Youth for NDCs Implementers Fellowship, organised by Youth for NDCs, YECAP, and UNDP Bangladesh.🎉🎊
Her fellowship focuses on moving from climate advocacy to implementation. She was chosen from over 1,300 applicants nationwide. She is currently in her final year of her undergraduate program, from the Department of English at Leading University, Sylhet. Her poetry book “The Fermented Journal” was published in Ekushey Boi Mela 2025. She is a contributing writer at "The Daily Star". Her work has been published in many journals and magazines nationally and internationally. Ohona attended The Hermitage Residency in 2023, where she was mentored by Arif Anwar, Anjali Singh and Mohammed Massoud Morsi. Apart from writing, Ohona is interested in environmental humanities, river studies and climate advocacy.
The Department of English at Leading University wishes her a massive milestone and a well-deserved recognition.
