♦️From AUST to Google's Software Engineer: Mahir Kabir♦️
Mahir Kabir, a graduate of Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology (AUST) with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and Engineering, has made an impressive journey from academia to becoming a Software Engineer at Google. During his time at AUST, Mahir excelled in competitive programming, winning several awards, including the Champion title in the Intra University Programming Contest in 2015.
After completing his undergraduate studies, Mahir went on to pursue higher education at Virginia Tech, where he earned both his Master of Science (MS) and Doctorate of Philosophy (PhD) in Computer Science. His research at Virginia Tech focused on Software Engineering, Software Security, and AI-assisted software maintenance, which led to several notable publications, including works on vulnerability detection in Java code and cryptographic API misuses.
Mahir gained significant industry experience working at renowned companies like Google and Amazon. At Google, he worked as a Software Engineering Intern on projects related to Agentic AI and developed virtual assistants using custom Java servers and fine-tuned Gemini models. At Amazon, he worked as an Applied Scientist Intern, developing an analysis pipeline to detect and classify bugs in static analysis tools.
Before diving into graduate school, Mahir worked as a Senior Software Engineer at Enosis Solutions in Dhaka, Bangladesh, where he led the development of web and desktop applications, RESTful APIs, and scalable system components. His diverse technical expertise spans AI-driven software maintenance, static program analysis, and full-stack development.
Today, as a Software Engineer at Google, Mahir continues to contribute to cutting-edge AI and software security advancements, embodying the transition from AUST to a prominent role at one of the world's leading tech companies.
