Join us at Dizzy’s Club on Tuesday, February 10th for our first concert of the semester! We’re excited to return to the legendary venue and feature one of our premiere ensembles, the NYU Wayne Shorter Ensemble, lead by our Program Director, Dave Pietro. Thank you everyone who joined us for last week's masterclass! We featured the illustrious jazz bassist Joe Martin, who performed a special solo bass performance for our students and then answered questions from the audience. Thank you for sharing your wisdom !

Tomorrow's masterclass will feature Jason Olaine, the VP of Programming at Jazz At Lincoln Center. Each of our masterclasses has something new for our students to experience and learn. Students, you won't want to miss this next one!

Meet Pri Magavi, Class of ‘28!

“I’m a trombonist from West Hartford, Connecticut. My favorite memory from my time at NYU so far was definitely a dorm show I played with my friends in the Paulson Center – it was an amazing experience to rehearse and perform our music and jam with the rest of NYU. A fun fact about me is that I am also on the pre-med track and am super interested in the intersections of music and health (like music therapy!). My favorite class that I have taken at NYU so far is Jazz: An American Artform in a Global Context with Professor David Schroeder. Aside from learning about the cultural and social impact of jazz throughout U.S history, we traveled to Paris to research the impact of jazz music in Europe. We also learned how to play the harmonica in class and had the opportunity to perform in Paris with Professor Schroeder!”
