অত্যন্ত আনন্দের সাথে জানাচ্ছি যে আর পি সাহা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের আইন ও মানবাধিকার বিভাগের মুট টিম প্রথম বারের মত বাংলাদেশের সবচেয়ে সম্মানজনক মুট Henry Dunant Memorial Moot Court competition 2025 অংশ নিয়েছে এবং কোয়ার্টার ফাইনাল পর্যন্ত গিয়েছে।
তবে একটু কষ্টের কথা যে এই মুট টিমের চ্যাম্পিয়ন হবার মত প্রিপারেশন ও পটেনশিয়াল থাকা সত্বেও আমাদের প্রতিযোগিতা কোয়ার্টার ফাইনাল শেষ হয়েছে। তবে আইন বিভাগ নি:সন্দেহেই সামনের দিনগুলোতে আরো ভালো করবে।
টিমের ওরালিস্ট ২৬ ব্যাচের ইসরাত জাহান ইপ্সিতা ও মেহের নিগার মিথিলা এবং রিসার্চার হিসেবে ছিলো ২৫ ব্যাচের তানজিলা আখতার।
আইন বিভাগের সহকারী অধ্যাপক অরুপ রতন সাহা কোচ হিসেবে দায়িত্ব পালন করেন।
২০২৫ সালে এ পর্যন্ত আইন ও মানবাধিকার বিভাগের অর্জন গুলো দেখি,
১.প্রথম অংশগ্রহণ Jessup - 18তম, (৪৫ দল)
২.প্রথম অংশগ্রহণ Mock Trial - তৃতীয় (৩০ এর বেশি দল)

এই সব অর্জনে পর্দার সামনে এবং পেছন থেকে অনুপ্রেরণা এবং দিক নির্দেশনা দিয়েছেন সম্মানিত বিভাগীয় প্রধান ড. সেলিনা আক্তার। আপনার সাহস এবং উদ্যমে Department of Law & Human Rights, RPSU টিম এত দূর এসেছে। এছাড়াও অন্যান্য সকল শ্রদ্ধেয় শিক্ষকদের আন্তরিক চেষ্টা এই অর্জনকে সম্ভব করেছে।

Quiz Competition | Department of Law and Human Rights
The Department of Law and Human Rights at R. P. Shaha University successfully hosted a General Quiz Competition on August 26, 2025, with enthusiastic participation from students of different batches. To honor this achievement, a Prize-Giving Ceremony will be held soon, recognizing both the top scorers of the competition and the highest GPA holders from each batch.
This event celebrates academic excellence and fosters a spirit of continuous learning and intellectual engagement.

RPSU LHR Team Advances to Oral Rounds of the 16th Henry Dunant Moot Court Competition 2025
It is with immense excitement that we share the news that a team from the Department of Law and Human Rights, comprising Meher Nigar Mithila, Esrat Jahan Epsh*ta, and Tanjila, has secured a place among the Top 16 teams in the 16th Henry Dunant Moot Court Competition 2025 (Bangladesh Round), based on their outstanding memorial scores.
The competition, organized by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), is one of the most prestigious platforms for aspiring law students to showcase their advocacy skills, legal research, and knowledge of International Humanitarian Law.
The team will now represent RPSU in the oral rounds, carrying forward their dedication and hard work. They have been guided and mentored by Aroup Raton Shaha, Assistant Professor, Department of LHR, RPSU, whose invaluable support has contributed to this success.
We extend our heartfelt congratulations to the team and invite everyone to join us in wishing them the very best as they step into the next stage of this distinguished competition.

RPSU Welcomes the Freshers of Fall 2025
R. P. Shaha University (RPSU) warmly welcomed its new batch of students at the Orientation Programme held on 19 July at its beautiful lush green permanent campus.
The event was graced by Mr. Manindra Kumar Roy, Honorable Vice-Chancellor of RPSU, as the Chief Guest. In his inspiring speech, he encouraged students to pursue academic excellence, personal growth, and uphold the legacy of philanthropist Ranada Prasad Shaha.
“This journey is not just about earning a degree, it's about building character and becoming responsible citizens, said honorable Vice Chancellor sir.
Mr. Sarker Hirendra Chandra, Honorable Registrar, also welcomed the students with warm words of encouragement.
The program featured engaging sessions by club advisors, department heads, faculty, and officials. The freshers received valuable insights into academics, student life, and co-curricular opportunities from them.

Fostering Justice through Learning: RPSU Law Students Attend Legal Aid Seminar and Court Visit
On 24 June 2025, a motivational seminar on government legal aid activities was held in Narayanganj, drawing participation from the enthusiastic students of Batches 22 and 23 of the Department of Law and Human Rights at R. P. Shaha University (RPSU).
The seminar was presided over by Md. Abu Shameem Azad, Honorable Chairman of the District Legal Aid Committee and Senior District and Sessions Judge of Narayanganj. Distinguished guests included the Chief Judicial Magistrate of Narayanganj, the Acting Judge of the Nazarat Division, and the District Legal Aid Officer (DLAO), all of whom played significant roles in facilitating the event.
The students were warmly received by the hosts and were accompanied by key faculty members from RPSU, including Dr. Salena Akter, Chairman of the Department of Law and Human Rights, Dr. ANM Arifur Rahman, Associate Professor and Proctor, and Shilajit Kumar Roy, Lecturer.
The seminar commenced with a concise and informative presentation by the District Legal Aid Officer, who provided a foundational understanding of the legal aid framework in Bangladesh. Following the presentation, the Senior District and Sessions Judge delivered an inspiring speech highlighting the crucial role of law students in promoting access to justice. He emphasized that engaging with legal aid activities is not just an academic endeavor but a social responsibility, urging students to commit themselves to the cause of justice for the marginalized.
After the seminar, the students were divided into several groups and taken to various trial courts. This field exposure allowed them to observe court proceedings in real time, helping them connect their theoretical knowledge with practical legal processes.
The day-long program offered students a unique opportunity to witness the legal system in action, deepening their understanding of justice beyond textbooks. Their interaction with judges, magistrates, and legal aid officials fostered not only a sense of professional responsibility but also inspired the young minds to become advocates for the underprivileged and defenders of justice.

The Department of Law & Human Rights at R. P. Shaha University is pleased to announce an educational court visit scheduled for Tuesday, June 24, 2025, to the District & Sessions Judge Court, Narayanganj.
This visit is part of the department's ongoing commitment to provide practical legal education and experiential learning opportunities to its students. During the visit, students will gain firsthand exposure to courtroom proceedings, judicial practices, and the functioning of the justice system in Bangladesh.
We are honored to announce that Mr. Abu Shameem Azad, the Honorable Senior District & Sessions Judge of Narayanganj, will grace the occasion as the Chief Guest. His valuable insights and guidance are expected to greatly enrich the students' understanding of legal processes and judicial responsibilities.

**Grand Final Ceremony of the 1st LHR Intra Department Moot Court Competition at R. P. Shaha University**
On May 31, 2025, the Department of Law & Human Rights (LHR) at R. P. Shaha University proudly hosted the Grand Final Ceremony of the 1st Intra Department Moot Court Competition 2025 an event that marked a significant milestone in fostering legal advocacy, research proficiency, and critical thinking among the university's budding legal minds. The Grand Final was graced by the esteemed presence of Mr. Md. Abu Shameem Azad, Honorable Senior District & Sessions Judge of Narayanganj, who served as the Chief Guest. His thoughtful reflections on the legal profession served as a source of deep inspiration for the participants. The event was further honored by Mr. Sarker Hirendra Chandra, Honorable Registrar of RPSU, as Guest of Honor, whose words of encouragement uplifted the spirits of the students. Dr. Salena Akter, Head of the Department of Law & Human Rights, chaired the event and emphasized the vital role of moot court competitions in shaping legal education, while congratulating all participants for their commendable efforts.
Following rigorous rounds of legal argumentation and demonstration of advocacy skills, Team 3 emerged as the Champion, while Team 2 secured the position of Runner-up. Individual achievements were also celebrated: Udoy Hossain was recognized as the Best Researcher, while Jihad from 29 Batch and Arna from 30 Batch were jointly awarded Best Oralists. Team 5 and Team 6 won accolades for submitting the Best Memorials in the Appellant and Respondent categories respectively.
The ceremony concluded with an award distribution, during which the Champion and Runner-up teams were presented with trophies by the distinguished guests. A heartfelt vote of thanks was extended to the organizing committee and faculty members for their tireless efforts in ensuring the event’s success. As a token of gratitude, the Department of LHR presented the Chief Guest, Mr. Md. Abu Shameem Azad, with a “Souvenir of Greetings.” The event not only celebrated emerging legal talent but also reinforced the values of healthy competition, academic excellence, and professional development within the legal discipline.

LHR's Law and Moot Court Society hosted the Group Stage and Semifinals of the 1st Intra Department Moot Court Competition
Dept. of Law & Human Rights, R. P. Shaha University proudly hosted the Group Round and Semifinal of the 1st LHR Intra Department Moot Court Competition on 28th May, 2025.
The event was organized by the RPSU Law and Moot Court Society, aiming to nurture critical thinking, legal research, and oral advocacy skills among aspiring legal professionals. This internal moot court competition marks a significant milestone in promoting clinical legal education within the department.
A total of six teams from the department participated in the first round, showcasing strong arguments, case law knowledge, and courtroom decorum. The judging panel, comprising esteemed faculty members and legal practitioners, evaluated teams based on legal reasoning, presentation, and responsiveness during rebuttals.
Following the intense preliminary rounds, the top four teams advanced to the semifinals, where the competition intensified. Participants exhibited exceptional advocacy skills and an in-depth understanding of contemporary human rights issues.
Dr. Salena Akter, Head of the Department of Law & Human Rights, commented, “This competition is an important initiative to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and courtroom practice. We are proud of the enthusiasm and performance of our students.”
The finalists will now prepare for the Grand Finale, scheduled to take place on 31st May, where the winning team will be crowned the champions of the inaugural moot court competition.

Memorial Exchanging Ceremony of the 1st LHR Intra Department Moot Court Competition 2025 including the declaration of the 1st Central Executive Committee of RPSU LMCS
On 27th May, 2025 the Law & Moot Court Society of R. P. Shaha University (RPSU) successfully organized the Memorial Exchanging Ceremony for the 1st LHR Intra Department Moot Court Competition 2025, marking a significant milestone in the academic and co-curricular landscape of the Department of Law. Following the Memorial Exchange Ceremony, the First Round of the competition will take place on 28th May, 2025 where Six Teams(Three teams in each group) will participate to reach the Semifinal Round. Moreover, the auspicious moment of Grand Finale will be held on 31st May, 2025.
The ceremony, held at the university campus, brought together participating teams, faculty members, and members of the Moot Court Society in an engaging and inspiring environment. The event officially commenced the moot proceedings by facilitating the formal exchange of written memorials between the competing parties, embodying the spirit of legal professionalism and academic excellence.
Honorable Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Manindra Kumar Roy inaugurated ceremony emphasizing the importance of moot court activities in fostering analytical thinking, advocacy skills, and a strong understanding of human rights and legal principles. Besides, honorable Registrar, Sarker Hirendra Chandra was also present there.
The memorials submitted reflect the dedication and scholarly efforts of the student participants in addressing complex legal and human rights issues.
Besides it, the 1st Central Executive Committee of the RPSU Law & Moot Court Society was declared by the honourable HoD, Dr. Salena Akter.
The Law and Moot Court Society of RPSU expressed its commitment to promoting a culture of legal research, oratory, and competitive spirit among the law students. This initiative is part of a broader mission to prepare students for real world legal challenges and courtroom practices.
