BAU-TTO is proud to host its first-ever seminar titled ‘Launching and Commercialization of BAU-HT Compost’ on 15 March 2026 in collaboration with the LDDP Sub-project led by Prof. Dr. A.K.M. Ahsan Kabir.
The seminar was chaired by Prof. Dr. M. Hammadur Rahman, Sub-Project Manager of the HEAT Sub-Project of BAU-TTO. We were honored to have Prof. Dr. A K Fazlul Haque Bhuiyan, Vice Chancellor of Bangladesh Agricultural University as the Chief Guest. Prof. Dr. A. K. M. Ahsan Kabir, Professor of the Department of Animal Science and Principal Researcher of the LDDP Sub-Project delivered the keynote address. The Dean of the Faculty of Animal Husbandry, Professor Dr. Md. Ruhul Amin, Director of the Crop Wing of the Department of Agricultural Extension, Dr. Salma Laiju, and Director of the Divisional Livestock Department, Mymensingh, Manoranjan Dhar were present as Special Guests at the event.
In his speech as the Chief Guest, the Vice Chancellor emphasized the urgent need to restore soil health, as soil fertility is decreasing day by day and in many cases the soil is becoming unusable. In this situation, bio-fertilizers or cow dung can play a very important role in restoring the natural quality of the soil. He called for providing these organic fertilizers at low prices to the agricultural lands of various departments of the university, so that teachers and researchers can use them to gain practical experience about their effectiveness and evaluate it. The Vice Chancellor also said that only as much fertilizer as is needed for the proper growth of plants should be used. It is necessary to give importance to the use of compost fertilizer produced within the country instead of unnecessarily importing expensive and attractive packaged fertilizers from abroad. He believes that increasing initiatives for the production of compost and organic fertilizers locally will not only protect the health of the soil, but also create new employment opportunities.
The speakers discussed the commercial importance of environmentally friendly agricultural systems and modern compost fertilizers. Through this project, farmers will get the opportunity to use high quality biofertilizers which will help in increasing soil fertility. Researchers, teachers, government officials, dealers and businessmen of fertilizers as well as entrepreneurs were present as guest in the seminar and discussed the production, use and potential market expansion of BAU-HT compost. Finally, the Vice Chancellor officially inaugurated the marketing activities of BAU-HT compost.

সেমিনারে প্রধান অতিথি হিসেবে উপস্থিত ছিলেন বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের ভাইস চ্যান্সেলর এ কে ফজলুল হক ভূঁইয়া। অনুষ্ঠানে মূল প্রবন্ধ উপস্থাপন করেন এনিম্যাল সায়েন্স বিভাগের প্রফেসর ও এলডিডিপি সাব-প্রজেক্টের প্রধান গবেষক প্রফেসর ড. এ. কে. এম. আহসান কবীর। অনুষ্ঠানে বিশেষ অতিথি হিসেবে উপস্থিত ছিলেন পশুপালন অনুষদের ডিন প্রফেসর ড. মো. রুহুল আমিন, কৃষি সম্প্রসারণ অধিদপ্তরের শস্য উইংয়ের পরিচালক মিস সালমা লাইজু এবং বিভাগীয় প্রাণিসম্পদ দপ্তর, ময়মনসিংহের পরিচালক মনোরঞ্জন ধর। সেমিনারে সভাপতিত্ব করেন বিএইউ টেকনোলজি ট্রান্সফার অফিস (TTO)-এর সাব-প্রজেক্ট ম্যানেজার (HEAT Project) প্রফেসর ড. মো. হাম্মাদুর রহমান।
সেমিনারে প্রধান অতিথির বক্তব্যে ভাইস চ্যান্সেলর এ কে ফজলুল হক ভূঁইয়া বলেন, বর্তমানে মাটির উর্বরতা দিন দিন কমে যাচ্ছে এবং অনেক ক্ষেত্রে মাটি রোগগ্রস্ত হয়ে পড়ছে। এ অবস্থায় মাটির স্বাভাবিক গুণাগুণ ফিরিয়ে আনতে বায়ো ফার্টিলাইজার বা গোবরসার অত্যন্ত গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ভূমিকা রাখতে পারে। তিনি বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের বিভিন্ন বিভাগের কৃষি জমিতে স্বল্প মূল্যে এসব জৈব সার সরবরাহ করার আহ্বান জানান, যাতে শিক্ষক-গবেষকরা সেগুলো ব্যবহার করে এর কার্যকারিতা সম্পর্কে বাস্তব অভিজ্ঞতা অর্জন এবং তা মূল্যায়ন করতে পারেন। ভাইস চ্যান্সেলর আরও বলেন, গাছের সুষ্ঠু বৃদ্ধির জন্য যতটুকু সার প্রয়োজন, ঠিক ততটুকুই ব্যবহার করা উচিত। অপ্রয়োজনীয়ভাবে বিদেশ থেকে দামী ও আকর্ষণীয় প্যাকেটজাত সার আমদানি না করে দেশের ভেতরেই উৎপাদিত কম্পোস্ট সার ব্যবহারে গুরুত্ব দেওয়া প্রয়োজন। তিনি মনে করেন, স্থানীয়ভাবে কম্পোস্ট ও জৈব সার উৎপাদনের উদ্যোগ বাড়ালে একদিকে যেমন মাটির স্বাস্থ্য রক্ষা পাবে, অন্যদিকে নতুন নতুন কর্মসংস্থানের সুযোগও সৃষ্টি হবে।
বক্তারা পরিবেশবান্ধব কৃষি ব্যবস্থা এবং আধুনিক কম্পোস্ট সারের বাণিজ্যিক গুরুত্ব নিয়ে আলোচনা করেন। এই প্রকল্পের মাধ্যমে কৃষকরা উন্নত মানের সার ব্যবহারের সুযোগ পাবেন যা মাটির উর্বরতা বৃদ্ধিতে সহায়ক হবে। সেমিনারে গবেষক, শিক্ষক ও সংশ্লিষ্ট কর্মকর্তা ও আমন্ত্রিত অতিথিগণ উপস্থিত ছিলেন এবং বিএইউ-এইচটি কম্পোস্টের উৎপাদন, ব্যবহার ও সম্ভাব্য বাজার সম্প্রসারণ নিয়ে আলোচনা করেন। সবশেষে ভাইস চ্যান্সেলর আনুষ্ঠানিকভাবে বিএইউ-এইচটি কম্পোস্ট এর বাজারজাতকরণ কার্যক্রমের শুভ উদ্বোধন করেন।]

📢 Official Launch Announcement

We are delighted to introduce the Technology Transfer Office (TTO) at Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU). This is a milestone initiative under a research project that is dedicated to transforming innovative research into real-world agro-based technologies.

BAU has been a powerhouse of agricultural research and innovation. Through Bangladesh Agricultural University Research System (BAURES), the university has successfully managed more than 4,000 completed and 600+ ongoing research projects. Thus BAU has generated more than 1,000 agricultural technologies. Despite these achievements, the absence of a functional TTO has limited opportunities for intellectual property (IP) protection, commercialization and revenue generation from research outputs of BAU. To bridge this gap, BAU is now establishing a TTO. It is hoped that this initiative will transform research excellence of BAU into practical and marketable solutions for farmers, entrepreneurs and industry partners. Through this project, BAU-TTO will be renovated and strengthened as the central hub for:
✅ Technology transfer, licensing, and commercialization
✅ Intellectual property rights management
✅ Legal and research training programs
✅ Innovation clusters and incubators
✅ Membership and collaboration with global IP bodies (e.g., WIPO)
