Myth 7: You must agree with the examiner’s opinion.
Reality: The examiner doesn’t judge your ideas but your English. You can have any opinion as long as you express it clearly and logically.

Myth 8: Memorizing answers will help you get a high score.
Reality: Examiners can easily recognize memorized responses. They want to hear your natural English, not rehearsed sentences. Speak spontaneously, even if it’s simple.

Myth 9: You should speak very fast to sound fluent.
Reality: Fluency doesn’t mean speed. It means speaking smoothly with a natural flow. Speaking too fast can cause mistakes and unclear pronunciation.

Myth 10: The examiner will ask tricky questions.
Reality: IELTS examiners never try to confuse you. The questions are simple and designed to help you express your opinions and experiences.

Myths and Realities - 2nd post

Myth 4: You must use very difficult and fancy words.
Reality: Using complicated words incorrectly can lower your score. It’s better to use simple, natural, and accurate vocabulary. What matters most is using words appropriately and clearly.

Myth 5: If you make grammar mistakes, you’ll fail.
Reality: Everyone makes small mistakes, even fluent speakers. Occasional errors won’t hurt your score if you can still express your ideas clearly and naturally. Focus on communication, not perfection.

Myth 6: The longer your answer, the higher your band score.
Reality: Quality is more important than length. You don’t need to give long speeches. Just answer fully with clear ideas, examples, and explanations. Avoid giving one sentence answer.

Myths and realities-

Myth 1: The examiner wants to catch your mistakes.
Reality: Not at all. The examiner actually hopes you’ll do well. He or she wants to hear your best English, not make you nervous. So relax and just talk naturally.

Myth 2: You must speak like a native speaker to get a high score.
Reality: No. You don’t need a British or American accent. What matters is how clearly you speak. Keep your own accent — just make sure your words are easy to understand.

Myth 3: You have to talk non-stop.
Reality: That’s a myth. Even native speakers pause to think. A short pause to organize your ideas is perfectly fine. Make sure, you don’t go silent for too long.

When you describe changes of the graph, do use words that say them accurately. for example- significant, dramatical, considerable, gradual, slight, moderate etc.

Use of these words will give you marks for lexical resource..

Speaking tip-

Do not overthink about any question asked in the test. Keep your answer simple and engaged with the examiner. Remember Ielts test is taken to understand your communication skills but knowledge or expertise on any particular topic.
