ক্লাসে একজন শিক্ষার্থীকে একটা translation করিতে দিয়াছিলাম-
ফুলটি ফুটি ফুটি করিয়াও ফুটিল না।
সে উত্তর দিল, The flower bloom bloom and not bloom. সমগ্র ক্লাস হাসিতে ফাটিয়া পড়িল।

আমিতো পুরাই নির্বিকার হয়ে রইলাম। আমি তাকে পুনরায় শুধাইলাম, “আচ্ছা বলতো ট্রেনটি ধরিতে ধরিতেও ধরিতে পারিলাম না।” সে ভাবলো আগের translation টি নিশ্চয়ই হইয়াছে, নচেৎ তাকে দ্বিতীয়বার সুযোগ দিতো না। বীরের মতো সাবেক পদ্ধতিতে উত্তর দিলো- I caught, caught and not caught the train.🤣🤣

আমার ব্যাঘ্রসম রূপ দেখিয়া সে বুঝিলো তাহার ছক্কা বাউন্ডারি লাইনের উপরই অক্কা পাইয়াছে। মানে হইল সেও caught, আমার গর্জনের আংশিক ভুলিবার ইচ্ছা থাকা সত্ত্বেও ভুলিতে পারে নাই। “আহা, কট্‌ কট্‌ কট্‌!! এই কটকটি মার্কা ইংরেজি ধুইয়া পানি খাইও।”🤔🤔

মূলত এই ‘কটকট’-এর উত্তর হইলো-
I was about to catch the train.

এবার কঠিন ঐ translation টি আবিষ্কারের techinic টি বলি আর এও বলি তোমাদের English Phobia (ইংরেজি আতঙ্ক) বিদায় দিতে হবে।

অতীতকালে একটি কাজ হতে যেয়েও হয়নি বা প্রায় হয়েই গিয়েছিল এমন বোঝালে-
was/were+about to হবে।

The flower was about to bloom (ফুলটি ফুটি ফুটি করেও ফুটল না)
আমি প্রায় মরেই গিয়েছিলাম- I was about to die.

কি? সহজ না? (অতীতে) হতে যেয়েও হয়নি মানেই- about to.

I was about to catch the thief.
চোরটাকে প্রায় ধরেই ফেলেছিলাম।

Weren’t we about to catch the theif?
আমরা কি চোরটাকে প্রায় ধরে ফেলেছিলাম না?

I was about to fall asleep.
আমি প্রায় ঘুমিয়ে পরেছিলাম।

Abscond (অ্যাব্‌স্কন্ড্‌) = গোপনে পালিয়ে যাওয়া / আত্মগোপন করা)

1. He absconded from the country
সে গোপনে দেশ থেকে পালিয়ে গিয়েছিল।

2. The criminal tried to abscond before the police arrived.
অপরাধী পুলিশ আসার আগে গোপনে পালাতে চেষ্টা করেছিল।

3. He absconded with a large amount of money.
সে অনেক টাকা নিয়ে গোপনে পালিয়ে গিয়েছিল।

4. The suspect absconded during the night.
সন্দেহভাজন ব্যক্তি রাতে পালিয়ে গিয়েছিল।

5. They absconded after committing the fraud.
তারা প্রতারণা করার পর গোপনে পালিয়ে গিয়েছিল।

No man in the world has ever oppressed women;
No Hindu has oppressed Muslims or Muslims have oppressed Hindus;
Non-Muslims have never oppressed Muslims or Muslims have oppressed non-Muslims.

The one who has more power has always oppressed the weak;

The one who has more intelligence, cunning/cleverness/falsehood has always oppressed the stupid/simple-minded truthful person;
The one who knows more about right-left linguistic logic has oppressed the one who knows less about logic;
The one who has more present intelligence/eloquence has always oppressed the one who has less present intelligence/soft-spoken or silent person.
