The 𝗔𝗦𝗠 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝗜𝘀𝗹𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗰 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 is deeply saddened and shocked by the news of the tragic murder of Assistant Professor 𝗔𝘀𝗺𝗮 𝗦𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗮 𝗥𝘂𝗻𝗮, Chairman of the Department of Social Welfare of Islamic University Bangladesh.

May Allah grant her soul forgiveness and grant patience and strength to her bereaved family.

73 years ago, on this very day (𝗙𝗲𝗯𝗿𝘂𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝟮𝟴, 𝟭𝟵𝟱𝟯), 𝗝𝗮𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝗪𝗮𝘁𝘀𝗼𝗻 and 𝗙𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝘀 𝗖𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗸 announced at the 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗖𝗮𝗺𝗯𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗴𝗲 that they had solved the 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗗𝗡𝗔, creating a 𝗱𝗼𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗲-𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗶𝘅 𝗺𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗹 that explained how genetic information is stored and copied.

Their discovery, based on 𝗰𝗿𝘂𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗫-𝗿𝗮𝘆 𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗮 from 𝗥𝗼𝘀𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝗙𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗸𝗹𝗶𝗻, revolutionised biology and won them the 𝟭𝟵𝟲𝟮 𝗡𝗼𝗯𝗲𝗹 𝗣𝗿𝗶𝘇𝗲.
