গত ৩ বছর ধরে বাংলাদেশী ছাত্র-ছাত্রীদের সাথে কাজ করার মাধ্যমে তাদের মাঝে কিছু গবেষনা পত্রের কিছু কমন দুর্বলতা পেয়েছি। যেমনঃ

১। অনেকের ইংরেজী বেশ ভালো, কিন্তু একাডেমিক রাইটিং এর ফরমুলা জানেনা। ফরমুলা শব্দটা একটু অন্যরকম শুনালেও, খুব কমন কিছু ফরমুলা রয়েছে একাডেমিক রাইটিং এর ক্ষেত্রে।
২। কিভাবে তথ্যগুলো কানেক্ট করতে হবে সে ব্যাপারে তেমন কোন ধারনা নেই। দেখা যায় বেশিরভাগ ক্ষেত্রে লেখা Data driven যা কাজের গুরুত্তকে অনেক কমিয়ে দেয় এবং ভাল তথ্য থাকা সত্ত্বেও রিজেক্ট হয়।
৩। খুবই বেসিক কিন্তু গুরুত্বপুর্ন দক্ষতা হল পড়ার দক্ষতা। কোথা থেকে শুরু করতে হবে, কি পড়তে হবে, সেই ব্যাপারে ধারনার মারাত্মক অভাব। তাই ঘন্টার পর ঘন্টা পড়েও সেটা কাজে দেয় না তেমন। অথচ পড়ার দক্ষতা অর্জন করলে অনেক সময় এর অপচয় রোধ করা যায়।
৪। প্রেজেন্টেশন স্কিল এর অভাব। অনেক সময় ভালো তথ্য থাকা সত্বেও সেগুলো শুধু অগোছালো অথবা শ্রেনী করে প্রজেন্ট না করতে পারার কারনে কাজের গুরুত্ব কমে যায়।
৫। দেশে Research Tools না থাকা আরেকটা বড় সমস্যা। কিন্তু কিছু প্রতিষ্ঠানে এই সুবিধা থাকা সত্বেও দেখা যায় কাজগুলো খুব এলোমেলো করে ফেলেছে। তার অন্যতম কারন গবেষনা প্লান ঠিকমত না করা যেটা অনেক বড় একটা সমস্যা। অনেক ধরনের টেস্ট রেজাল্ট থাকে পেপারে কিন্তু কেন করেছে এবং যে তথ্য পাচ্ছে সেটা গবেষনার লক্ষ্যকে সমর্থন করে কি না সে ব্যাপারে তেমন কোন ধারনা নেই।
৬। গল্প সাজানো। এইটা সবার জন্য সবচেয়ে কঠিন কাজ। যদি গবেষনার তথ্যগুলো গল্প আকারে না সাজানো যায় তাহলে তথ্য যতই ভালো হোক না কেন তা কাজের গুরুত্বকে কমপক্ষে ৫০% কমিয়ে দেয়। খুব সাধারন কাজও অসাধারন হয়ে উঠে যদি তার বাস্তবিক গুরুত্ব এবং প্রয়োজনীয়তা একটা গল্প আকারে সাজানো যায়।
ইন্টারনেটের কারনে এখন অনেক তথ্য সহজে পাওয়া যায় বা অনেকে অনেক ধরনের দক্ষতা অর্জন করে নিজে নিজে, কিন্তু ভালো গবেষনা করতে হলে প্রয়োজন একজন ভালো মেন্টর। তাই সব ছাত্র-ছাত্রী যারা গবেষনায় আগ্রহী তাদের উচিত নিজ বিভাগের শিক্ষকদের সাহায্য নেয়া। বাইরে উচ্চশিক্ষার জন্য আশার আগে যদি গবেষনার খুব বেসিক বিষয়গুলো শুরু থেকে STANDARD মেনে শিখে আশা যায় তাহলে পরবর্তিধাপগুলো অনেক সহজ হয়ে যায়, সুপারভাইজার এর কাছে ভালো ইমেজ তৈরী করা যায় শুরুতেই। ভুলশিক্ষা এবং ইচ্ছামত কিছু করে অনেক পেপার পাব্লিশ করে আসলেও যখন একজন ভালো সুপারভাইজার এর কাছে যাওয়া হবে তখন এই ভুল অনেক খারাপ ধারনার সৃষ্টি করতে পারে, সুপারভাইজার এর মনে সন্দেহ সৃষ্টি হতে পারে কাজের দক্ষতা নিয়ে। ঠিকভাবে কম শেখা ভুল্ভাবে অনেক কিছু শেখার থেকে হাজারগুন ভালো।

In contrast, students from the neighboring countries doing research in the same foreign universities publishing high impact research. It is very important to get the basic training before entering in extensive research program and successfully complete it. A good research outcome is critical to get a good job in abroad after graduation. Sometimes, students think they will learn after going abroad and this is where they get stuck. When they try to learn the basic research procedures, others with some experience advances so quickly and that make a big difference. So, whenever you get scope, try to learn basic research procedures before going for higher studies. This will make your life easier and help in many ways.
