চলেন " A White Bus" এ উঠে একটুখানি ঘোরাঘুরি করে আসি এবং সেইসাথে Subordinate conjunction গুলো সুন্দর করে চিনে ফেলি। কেন না, Subordinate conjunctions চিনতে পারলে আপনি Subordinate clause সহজেই ধরতে পারবেন।

Subordinate Conjunction সহ এর ডানদিকের (Sub+ Finite Verb) যুক্ত অংশই হলো Subordinate Clause। যার অপর নাম হলো Dependent Clause। কারন, Subordinate clause, Principal /Main/independent clause এর ওপর নির্ভর করে বাক্যের অর্থকে পরিপূর্ণতা দেওয়ার জন্য।

Clause (বাক্যাংশ- বাক্যের অংশ) এর সাথে Connected হচ্ছে গঠনানুযায়ী যে ৩ প্রকারের sentence আছে (Simple, Complex & Compound) তারা।

অর্থাৎ, Subordinate Clause (S.C) + Principal Clause (P.C) = Complex sentence ( জটিল/মিশ্র বাক্য)

Subordinate clause সর্বদা বাক্যের শুরতে অথবা মাঝে বসে।

অন্যদিকে Coordinate conjunctions এর নেমোনিক হলো, " FAN BOYS"। তাই, এই শব্দগুলো যখন ২টা Principal clause এর মাঝে বসে যে ধরনের sentence তৈরি করে তাকে বলে Compound sentence (যৌগিক বাক্য)

S.C+ P.C = Complex sentence
P.C+ P.C = Compound sentence. (মাঝে Coordinate conjunction বসে)

One More thing, প্রতিটা Principal Clause ই হলো Simple Sentence (সরল বাক্য).
Simple sentence : আগে/পরে Phrase যুক্ত থাকতে পারে এবং ১টা Subject, ১টা Finite Verb( সমাপিকা ক্রিয়া) এবং একাধিক non-finite verb থাকতেও পারে নাও পারে, এই ধরনের Sentence কে বলে Simple sentence.

Giving him a glare, The traffic Sergeant told him to show his driving license. এটা একটা Simple Sentence.
Giving him a glare - এই অংশটা হলো একটা Phrase (শব্দগুচ্ছ) -- মিনিমাম ২টা শব্দ থাকলেও সেটা Phrase হয়। এবং Phrase এ Sub+ Finite Verb কখনো একসাথে থাকেনা।

I Slapped him because he misbehaved with me.

এটা একটা Complex sentence। Clause এর সাহায্যে sentence চিনুন, এখানে Subordinate Conjunction হলো Because, তাই এর ডানদিকের অংশটা হলো Subordinate Clause. Because he misbehaved with me ( Subordinate Clause) আর অপর অংশ ( I Slapped him) হলো Principal Clause. সুতরাং, একটা Subordinate clause + একটা Principal clause থাকলে সেটা Complex sentence.

Read attentively Or You'll fail in the exam.
এখানে Read attentively হলো Principal clause. Coordinate conjunction হিসেবে Or বসেছে এবং এর পরেও আরেকটা Principal clause (You'll fail in the exam) বসেছে।

সুতরাং, P.C + Co-ordinate conjunction + P.C = Compound sentence.

যতটা লিখে বোঝানো যায় তার থেকেও বেশি ফলপ্রসূ হয় সরাসরি ক্লাসে বোঝানোর সময়ে।

clause অত্যন্ত গুরুত্বপূর্ণ একটা বিষয়। Changing sentence এর Simple, Complex, Compound এর ক্ষেত্রে H.S.C Academic এর English 2nd Paper এ "Changing Sentence " এর মধ্যে এগুলো আসবে।

Let's learn about Subjunctive :-

Subjunctive হলো একটা বাক্যের mood কে বোঝায় যেখানে কর্তার ইচ্ছা, আকাঙ্খা, পরামর্শ, সুপারিশ, সম্ভাবনা, ইমোশন এগুলোর সাথে সম্পর্কিত।

বাক্যের মধ্যে Subjunctive হিসেবে কাজ করে কিছু গুরুত্বপূর্ণ Verb, Adjective & Noun.

টেকনিক্যালি মনে রাখার উপায়ঃ-
MP PORSU (কারো নাম বোঝানো হয়েছে PORSU দ্বারা) ACID মেরে ধরা খেলো।

P= prefer /Preference, propose/ proposal
O= Order, Obligatory
R= request, Require, recommended /Recommendation
S= Suggest /Suggestions, Stipulate
U= Urge
A= Ask, advise
C= Command
I= Insist, Important, imperative
D= Demand

Structure For affirmative sentence :-

Sub + Subjunctive (Verb/adjective /noun) + that + Sub + Base form of a verb (V1) + obj/Extension.

I suggest that you study attentively to mak an outstanding result.

He insisted on me that I finish the work.

She recommended that I stop talking with other girls😑

I command that you Excel.

অর্থাৎ Subjunctive এর পরে সাধারনত that clause থাকবে এবং Verb এর base form বসে। এমনকি be verb হিসেবে am/is/are/was/were না বসে সরাসরি " Be" বসে।

I prefer that you be on time there.

Structure for Negative sentences:

Subject + Subjunctive + that + sub + not + V1 + obj/Ext.

He insists you not eat the adulterated foods.

I recommended that my brother not leave the house.

Narration /Speech is an important topic to know. Today's discussion was about "Narration of Exclamatory Sentence in general". Let's learn.

পরীক্ষায় আসে passage Narration. কিন্তু passage narration ভালোভাবে তখনই আয়ত্ত করা যায় যদি তার আগে General narration এর ৫টা sentence সম্পর্কে ভালোভাবে জ্ঞান থাকে। এরপরে Passage narration এর ৬/৭ টা গুরুত্বপূর্ণ rules ফলো করে ভালোভাবে প্রাকটিসের মধ্যে দিয়ে এই টপিক সম্পর্কে আয়ত্ত করতে পারা যাবে। ইংরেজি গ্র্যামার অনেক মজার বিষয়। মজার সাথেই শিখতে হবে🖤

Difference between the "noun clause" & " adjective clause " চলুন সহজেই জেনে নেওয়া যাক।

The news that he is dead is true ( noun clause) কারন the news = he is dead.

বিষয়টি ভাঙলে এরকম হয়, That he is dead is a true news. অর্থাৎ Clause marker + sub + verb থাকলেই সেটা Adjective clause না।

How the man was died is a mystery. ( noun clause)

That he will be a BCS cadre is probably true (Noun clause)

Where he was born is not known yet ( noun clause)

তাইলে adjective clause কোনটা? যেভাবে সহজে মনে রাখা যায় :

যদি subordinate conjunction /clause marker (WH-word/ that) + sub + finite verb সংবলিত কোনো অংশ এর আগের antecedent (পুর্বপদকে) modify করে তখন সেটা adjective clause.

উদাহরণস্বরুপ: I know the boy who will come to our house today ( adjustive clause) [Clause marker - who, which, that, what, whom, why, how, when, Where) etc. এরা নিজেই subject হওয়ার যোগ্যতা রাখে।

That was the reason why he has failed in the exam. ( adjective clause)

I Don't like people who are dishonest (adjective clause).

The house I live belongs to my father (Adjective clause)
এখানে The house belongs to my father এটা principle clause. তাহলে I live বলাতে কিভাবে adjective clause হলো যেহেতু Clause marker নেই তাইতো? এখানে Clause marker হিসেবে [Where ] - উহ্য আছে।

This is the wallet that I lost yesterday (Adjective clause)

***Adjective Clause এর আরেকটা নাম আছে। সেটা হলো relative clause***

আশা করি noun clause এবং adjective clause এর ধারনা অনেকটা ক্লিয়ার💥

Let, make, bid, need, hear, dare etc এই verb গুলোর পরে আরেকটা verb আসলেও কখনো তার সাথে ing যোগ হবেনা। V1 বসবে। মুলত bare infinitive হিসেবে বসে। মানে to + V1 বসবেনা। to উহ্য থাকবে। উদাহরণে আসা যাক।

Don't let him go inside. (Not going)
I'll make you understand (not understanding)
I heard the baby Cry (not crying)
He dare not drive at night (not driving or to drive)
She need not go there.

GILAPI ( জিলাপি) এর প্যাচে V.ing (V1+ing)হয় কিভাবে? টেকনিক্যালি মনে রাখার কৌশল :-

G= Get used to
I= it is no use
L= Look forward to
A= Addicted to
P= prefer
I= It is no good

উপরিউক্ত word/phrases গুলোর পরেই কোনো Verb আসলে অবশ্যই V4 (V1+ ing) করতে হয়। উদাহরণে আসা যাক।

1. It is no use talking with him.
2. It is no good discussing about the matter.
3. He can't get used to hearing the bogus issue.
4. She was looking forward to searching the needed books.
5. Mr. David was addicted to walking on the bank of the river.
6. They prefer travelling to Saint Martin Island.

এভাবে সহজেই মনে রাখতে পারবেন গুরুত্বপূর্ণ এই জিনিসগুলো।
