উন্নয়ন বলতে শুধু ইট-পাথর বুঝায় না। শিক্ষা, স্বাস্থ্য, সুশাসন, মৌলিক অধিকার চর্চা সহ দুর্নীতি প্রতিরোধ করাও উন্নয়নের গুরুত্বপূর্ণ পরিমাপক। তবে বিগত ১৬ বছর উন্নয়নের যে বুলি আমাদের শেখানো আর শুনানো হয়েছে, তাতে যে কত শত শুভংকরের ফাঁকি, দুর্নীতি আর পাচারের পথ অবলম্বন করা হয়েছে- তার ইয়ত্তা নেই। বাংলাদেশ ব্যাংক, সিপিডি সহ দেশের প্রথম সারির গণমাধ্যম গুলোর বরাতে দেশবাসীর কাছে সেসব এখন কাচের মত পরিষ্কার।

আন্তর্জাতিক রাজনীতিতে বাংলাদেশের বর্তমান প্রেক্ষাপট, তিউনিসিয়ান জেসমিন বিপ্লবের অনুরুপ। যেই গণজোয়ার পাকিস্তানেও কিছুটা পরিলক্ষিত হচ্ছে। একই সাথে, কেনিয়া আর নাইজেরিয়ায় চলতে থাকা আন্দোলন "আরব বসন্তের" মত নতুন কোন "আফ্রিকান বসন্ত" সামনে নিয়ে আসবে কিনা, তা জানা এখন সময়ের অপেক্ষা।
হয়ত ৭১ দেখা হয় নি। কিন্তু ২০২৪ সেই নির্মমতার আবহ দিয়ে গেলো, দিয়ে যাচ্ছে জীবনে।

Thanks to Asian Paints Bangladesh Rajendrapur Plant for inviting me as a contractual interpreter for their behaviour-based safety research program. It was a great pleasure to interpret such dignified officers for two-day-long sessions on the plant with my skill of translation to the research team of the tribe. I am so delighted to join the Asian Paints Bangladesh Mirsarai Plant within a couple of days for the same interpretation task. It's something worth sharing.
